It's just a stand, right? Can't wait a bit longer for shipment?

Does anyone know where I can get the Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 stand locally?

If urgent, can do 3D print stand but do note on the differences surface texture based on the nozzle size.
There are few shopee seller providing this service.
The designs are available at Thingiverse website & the stand size for Shield 2019 Pro is the same as Shield 2017 (16GB)

https://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=Nvidia...s&sort=relevant

If prefer Original Shield TV stand, can ask Techbug in case they have new stock on the way.

Might as well buy from local seller at Shopee to save the hassle. Unless there is a significant discount on amazon, you’ll only save a little by going that route.

Don't forget, if buying from Amazon, it may get caught by Sirim and you will then have to apply for the Sirim certificate. It's RM100, if I'm not wrong.

But this depends on your luck. Some have reported no problems with Sirim, some have got their Shields caught.

Haven't personally tried their service but there are few users bought through them.
The benefit is cheaper postage, maybe around RM60 for Pro unit not including insurance.
Meanwhile for custom charges & SIRIM permit, it depends on the luck.

I believe that if you pay the USD46.44 for this nVidia Shield 2019 Pro at Amazon, you don't have to worry about SIRIM.

Duty tax is different from SIRIM permit. You would have to pay for both duty tax and SIRIM if your product didn’t slip through their check.

Not much of exciting games for native android tv after Google changed some playstore policy for ATV in late 2018, most games & apps were removed from ATV & require the dev to update the apps based on the new policy requirement to reinstate ATV compatibility.
Unfortunately, some dev decide not/ignore to update their apps due to low user base & also there are dev that no longer active.
This is the reason why some TV apps/games that are only available on mobile p/store, can be sideload to ATV & use it with TV remote.

Two years back Nvidia did offer attractive discounts for their Lightspeed Studio games which was only arnd rm5 per game but since then no more discounts.

If anyone interested, there is one subreddit that post updates on games that are on offer or temporary free for Android TV:-

This is true & it is due to the SoC does not support VP9.2 codec which is required for Youtube HDR & Google Play Movies HDR.
Unfortunately, there is no workaround to force smooth playback for this codec. Even NVIDIA tried to add support via Android 9 at software level but they could only get it to work up to 1080p but the result was not acceptable so they decide to scrape the plan.
Recently after an update to YouTube app, it did enable VP9.2 video playback on NSTV but the HDR video played smoothly only up to 720p & it was struggling at 1080p video.

I have many "videos" in mkv format stored on external hard drive. Currently I just plug into USB port of tv to play but mostly the files are not playable due to codec issue.

If I get a Nvidia shield pro and connect the external hard drive to it, can it be played more reliably? The correct way to doing this is use vlc player installed in Nvidia and play the mkv and output via hdmi to tv?

Thanks.

I don’t plan to setup a Plex media server. Mostly the files just delete after watching haha. So a player like vlc which can play mkv is good enough.

Any recommend local seller for Nvidia shield pro ?

Shopee have around 2 sellers selling for RM1,099. There are some penjana limited codes going on at the moment, might be able to get RM20+ off.

Yes, you can do that via Kodi player. Most of mine are M2TS format with a few MKV, no issues with playback.
