Guys I got fedup with the multiple cheap TV Box i got which usualyl gives me so much problem..

1. MiTV3 .... Chinese version so much headache with the menu/interface

2. Tanix TX6... problem with Netflix.. came preinstalled worked for awhile then doesnt work.. sigh.. tried to load various APK also didnt work

3. MiBox S... limited Google Playstore...

So I'm thinking whether this nVidia SHield will be straigth forward P&P. I only do NetFlix/Prime/YouTube and playstore with Google Chrome etc...

No gaming.

Both Shield TV & Mibox S have similar playstore which is limited to Android TV compatible apps.

If need to use any mobile apps , u can sideload it or use 3rd party app store such as Aptoide, Aurora, Yalp store & etc..

Fyi, Xiaomi is testing Android P for Mibox S, currently it is in second beta and most probably it will receive official Amazon Prime app with other improvements.

I'll go google that... I want something thats idiot proof, plug & Play, dont need to fiddle/sideload etc ...

Oh I didnt know Shield have the same limited access to playstore like MiBox...

I reckon the MiBox would do with some hardware upgrades... its not such a hot devide if we want to do 4k content..

both mibox and shield is running on android TV os, not full android like phone.

for me, shield is plug n play type without much tinkering.
using it more than 1 years. even my 4years old daughter know to use it. ( turn it on, play youtube kids, )
mostly streaming and gaming.

How much is Nvidia shield 2017 2nd hand now?

Spotted few 2nd unit with controller priced between 700 to 800..

Mi Box is just a cheap version of Nvidia Shield. Both is same but Nvidia Shield came with very capable and powerful hardware where Mi Box a bit under power.

Anyone tried to connect 2 Xbox controller to Nvidia shield? Does it work?

Yes, if it is the bluetooth version.

Ic means both controller must be Bluetooth. Not sure if both USB port will work?

Wired controller should work..
Xbox 360 wireless controller will work but need to use with xbox 360 wireless adapter.

Do note that usage of 3rd party controllers will have some limitations:-
> No rumble
> Audio jack won't work
> No 'ok google' detection
> Basic mapping/function

1) Last sales was Black Friday (for the 2017 Shield), 2019 no promo. I don't think there is any promo for New Year Day. They might have for Boxing Day (26th).

Hi guys, planning to invest on the new shield but I just wanna confirm that the following APK's works without an issue; so appreciate if someone could confirm.

2. New Playtv@unifi
Do I still need to sideload it? Currently I have Mi Box S (recently updated to Pie 9 with beta 3) still the above APK's not working.

AOTG works very well
New playtv@unifi not working atm. have to wait when new unifi box come out

I'm using Nvidia Shield TV 2017. Currently using Playtv@unifi latest version. I sideload it. No problem to use it for more than 2 years even I connect thru lan. Need to tweak the WiFi fake connection on LAN if not mistaken.
