I only trust 2 reviewers... eta prime & hdtvtest... biggrin.gif

Looking at the big picture... it's still the fastest box around. So I'm not really surprised

If the gamer edition comes with the same 2017 controller then i'll suggest buying the normal pro version and pair it with xbox, ps4 or other 3rd party controller since both 2015/2017 controller had same issue/flaw with the joystick similar to Nintendo switch joy con.

As per previous findings on the two accessories that Nvidia has been working on which one of it was the new 'Toblerone' remote, i'm sure there will be a new controller.

Same, eta prime is one of my go to YouTuber for reviews & emulation..
He even found out that Shield 2019 'Tube' (8GB) is running on 32-bit mode instead of 64-bit. đŸ¤”

If that's what u need, this box is overkill. Suggest TX3 mini.. there's a thread for this

If ur current requirement/setup does not need/have Dolby Vision, Atmos(Netflix) or AI Upscaling then 2017 version should be good.

Astro Go works fine on STV 2017 and should work on STV 2019 too.
U can set ur STV as a server so u can watch ur digital(remux) movie collection on another TV if u don't have home server/nas.

For gaming there are few options:-
1. U can gamestream from ur PC if it fits the requirements via few apps.
2. PS4 remote play under same network/location but the PS controller need to connect to PS4 instead of STV. There are few other workaround to stream PS4 to STV.
3. PUBG Mobile on STV
4. GeforceNow beta but currently there is no 'open' server for Asia region.
5. Emulation

Planning to sell my 2015 Shield TV and get this one for Dolby Vision. But I'm quite disappointed with this new Shield TV overall. Too little new features and the Shield tube is bloody joke. They could've at least been more sensible in their pricing.

There is some new development:-
1. Latest Plex beta 7.24 will able to play DV remux single-layer(profile 5) meanwhile for dual-layer(profile7) it will only play 1st layer(Base-HDR10) and ignore the 2nd layer(Enhancements-DV). Atm, Plex has no plan to add support for multi-stream & DV transcoding which is required to play/transcode DV dual-layer.
Additional note: According to Plex dev, STV 2019 only support DV Single-layer mode.

2. DV remux is now possible with lossless Audio.
Few STV users manage to play it with DTS-X & DTS-HD MA but not with Atmos which is still possible if Plex add required support for Dolby TrueHD in MP4 container.

Can run latest version w/o mod but still need to sideload since Astro Go is not available on Android TV playstore.

The apk can be downloaded from apkmirror or 3rd party app store..

Nvidia have removed all the 2017 model from their official listing & replace it with 2019 model..

There are used & new 2017 model sold by 3rd party seller on Amazon around $170 but not all can be shipped to Malaysia.
As for used unit, u won't be able to access Free GeForce Now beta if the previous owner has login since it is only exclusive for first account used to login.

U still can get new 2017 model at Lazada/Shopee & for GeForce Now access u need to show proof of purchase to Nvidia support.
Anyway, there will be black fridy sale & hopefully the offer price will be attractive.

It's easier since amazon ships the nvidia shield internationally.
