Update the drivers... And as steventan85 said, don't take synthetic benchmarks so seriously... icon_rolleyes.gif

The dead pixel IS a problem, get the unit replaced (you have 14 days from the day they mail the invoice to you, to replace OR return the unit completely if you're not satisfied with it)... Like I stated frontpage, they generally don't give you lemons twice in a row... sweat.gif

But the keyboard IS cheap, so nothing better to expect there... icon_rolleyes.gif

Welcome to the club!

laihuhng... may i know ur specs please??
using nvidia geforce go 7400 or intel GMA 950?
if it's nvidia then i think there's something wrong lor...
there may be slight difference from units to units depending on things like ur hard disk, but you should get at least over 3.0...
i've got a replacement unit and the replacement unit scored 3.3, which is 0.1 lower than the 3.4 scored on the old unit....
and the reason for this difference is because of the hard disk... the old one uses hitachi hard disk that has a slightly faster rate than the toshiba used in the new one.....

i discovered that the keyboard for the replacement unit feels cheap too... it's like when you press it it's not so bouncy or sth... dunno how to describe..... this batch they use keyboard from other manufacturer i guess..... and i requested to swap the keyboard from my old unit...

Go to the performance there, click Update my score.
The first time u boot up windows, it will first do a benchmark on your computer and give you the windows experience index. But as what i've experienced, that first benchmark isn't accurate one. Last time at first i also get a lower benchmark. After i click on Update my score, it will do the benchmark again and then the gaming graphics score got up higher to 3.4...
So juz click 'Update my score' and your score should get up to 3.4 or at least 3.3 depending on your hard disk speed or other components.

Oh really....hmmm, I'll give it try then later after work. BTW, have any of you experienced the right portion of keyboard seems like 'sinking' (sorry, don't know how to put it in words) when you type, especially when using the right side of the keyboard?

Ah... The infamous right side keyboard flex... Yeah my M1210 has it too, and it seems that most M1210s has it to a degree... But if it sinks more then a few milimetres, there might be something wrong... icon_rolleyes.gif

But if it bugs you THAT much... You can find details on how you DIY repair it HERE... thumbup.gif

Hi Eiraku,

Thanks for the tips, a great one actually. Anyway, since it's just a 1.5 days old lappy, I'll call the Technical Assistance see if they would help me fix the problem first. These are flaws that I found from my XPS...

1. Keyboard - Bulge at the right side / portion ; Sink at the top (F6, F7, F8)
2. LCD - 1 dead pixel ; color washout (very white, not bright - contrast problem). Reduce brightness doesn't help at all. I'm putting it together with my desktop LCD (Samsung), it's like comparing a BMW with Kancil.....darn.....

BTW, I'd updated my Vista score as what suggested by dingding. Well, it works. My lowest score now went up to 3.4 from 2.8 previously.

Dell..... sweat.gif

I was kinda wondering though... Where didcha get your Aurora? I'm thinking UK or Aussie... Are you there currently or are you here back in the Motherland? If your here, how bout the warranty? Do they cover stuff here too?
*
Of course they do cover the problems are the cost and time-consuming. For U.S and Canada, u dont need to pay a cent for warranty just that for outside of U.S and Canada you will need to pay for the shipping to them and the cost of replacement/repair and shipping back to you will cover by them. I simply believe they do this to avoid customer sending them a minor problem like formatting issue or else and for that, they need to cover everything which is very costly. To be fair, customer just need to pay the shipping towards them. I would say it will not worth it. Even if there are some ppl who are rich enuf, but still u dont want to wait like a month or two without ur system especially when the laptop u own is an Alienware mobile system. If u asked me, try something like XPS m1710 which is still great but not too rare for the spare-part (I think).

Just got my XP M1210 before lunch. Didn't really get to check for any hardware defects. The only thing I notice is that it wobbles. So I open it up, put it on a table and press on the left side of the laptop, it wobbles. Bah.

It's not major wobbling but it can be quiet annoying now that I notice it. I will have to test out the system later to see if there are any other defects... if the software and everything else is ok, maybe i should keep it. i'm scared if i change it, i might get a lemon.

dunno...
