Just got my XP M1210 before lunch. Didn't really get to check for any hardware defects. The only thing I notice is that it wobbles. So I open it up, put it on a table and press on the left side of the laptop, it wobbles. Bah.

It's not major wobbling but it can be quiet annoying now that I notice it. I will have to test out the system later to see if there are any other defects... if the software and everything else is ok, maybe i should keep it. i'm scared if i change it, i might get a lemon.

dunno...
*
It wobbles? get a replacement or u r gonna regret it. Please replace it even it is not mine, i already felt annoyed by that. Let us know if anything

hi guys,im back..with my m1210 with a new fan & heatsink & my 3dmark06 score 83X poinr now..back to normal & my idle temp is 60C & highest 79C..

but the sad part is..my system need to be taken back to the service center & to be force open due to a spoiled screw done by the previous technician..it took 1week vmad.gif for me to get back my system..& they had broken the palm rest & bottom casing..therefore they changed a new 1 with my old sticker, service tag number...etc being tear off & transfer to the new bottom casing..which is horrible..i'll upload the pic tomorrow..oh man..its heart breaking cry.gif to see my baby look so horrible, besides the centrino duo & windows vista capable sticker was taken from my old system..why do dell doesnt replace me a new 1..

i'll complain & try to claim for new sticker..

From what I read from various sources, the users says, next time they want to take your laptop away, give them whatever excuse to make them fix the stuff at your home. I mean, that's what on-site warranty is for right. Just don't let them take it, and it would be fine next time.

Don't only claim for new sticker, get a a palmrest etc etc, the warranty is there for you to abuse it.

Reasons why I'd rather not deal with the "Legion of Doom" (the repair people) unless my XPS is utterly half destroyed, or at least ruined enough for them to have to replace it with a new one... icon_rolleyes.gif

Inside man, eh... Well, any specs on this new XPS? I'm betting half a leg it's the long awaited 15 inch XPS... Which, if they could stuff a 8600GT inside of it (AND if they decide to sell it in Msia) would make me cry buckets... sweat.gif

But a M1210 rehash with a 8400 (or a 8600GS drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif ) would be sweet too... icon_rolleyes.gif

EDIT: You sure its a new XPS Lappy and not just the XPS 720 H2C Desktop that Dell's already gonna launch stateside? It would be sweet if they'd launch that ultra desktop here, but it's huge and hugely expensive anyway... icon_rolleyes.gif

Nice... Dell's turnaround time's getting better and better... Wonder why?

Will add you in the list ASAP! Welcome to the club mate... thumbup.gif

Added on May 26, 2007, 12:26 amHey, any of you catch what company those "crappy" on site people came from? The outsourced company I mean... Maybe we can start a database of onsite people to watch out for... rolleyes.gif

well, i guess most of the technicians dont really know all the systems. there are like so many types of model of laptops and they dun have like specific team to deal with certain models.....
everytime they open, they seem uncertain of the stuff. some are juz like trial and error.... some always forget to remove certain screws and then try pulling it out hard then oni realise..... =.=''.....

Nope, warranty won't be affected if you use new RAM modules... But the ori warranty wont cover your new RAM... Just the old ones... icon_rolleyes.gif

The 2nd RAM slot's a little bit hard to get to, though... As it's under the keyboard... Gotta unscrew and remove the KB first, instructions provided in the XPS manual... thumbup.gif

i had to allowed them to take away my laptop..cause they really was unable to unscrew the screw with normal tools..

this will be the last chance for my system or for this service tag number(bad luck with this service tag, maybe im the only guy who encounter so much problem, even more then dingding,he has got himself a replacement unit)..lol..any problem occur again i'll ask for a replacement unit with my old toshiba, keyboard & lcd shift over to the new system.. brows.gif

dismantling a notebook is easier than wat it look...one should hv good memory as if one does not hv good memory, one should not be a technicion laugh.gif

but seriusly laa...even he dismantling many system, he shoudl rmmbr the step he did b4...i cant forgive such mistake...

last time, rite after dell techie change my procs...after several week, i decided to dismantling my notebook....bcos last time he didnt apply new thermalpaste...temp kindaa high then usual...do rmmbr...this is my 1st notebook...nvr dismantling any notebook...n dat was my 1st time wacthing people dismantling a notebook...with my 1st attempt, i successfully dismantle n putting it back together without forgeting any step....y? bcos i am carefull...as long as u carefull, sure wont forget any steps...haih....

if clumsy....haih...no hope sweat.gif actually i should complaint to dell...but donwan larr... smile.gif
