Well, Dell only provides for the XPS M1210 here in Malaysia... I'll put up info on both the M1710 and the M2010 (which is not quite a laptop, really) as soon as they start selling them here in Malaysia, but the only XPS we have in Malaysia right now is the M1210...

But, if I must, no problems mate... Renaming thread... I can always put up a new thread for the M1710 later... Sorry for the trouble...
Sorry about that... But, I'm letting it be nonetheless because:

1) The gap's not THAT big, it's more of a misalignment actually...

2) I'm not going to let the "Legion of Doom" (aka the on-site repair people) touch my XPS unless it's a critical problem. There might be only the tiniest of chances that they might just screw up my LCD (and everything else) in the process, but I'm not gonna risk it...

Not yet anyway, unless I get too annoyed with the gap in a few months from now... Then I'll call em up pronto...

Added on May 3, 2007, 3:53 amWell, I'm back home for the hols, and now I'm noticing something quite funny... Placing my XPS on a flat level surface in an air conditioned room (ie. on the table in my room) and then playing STALKER (or any other 3D intensive game), the air coming out of the left side exhaust vent can get quite warm...  Not enough to burn my hand, but to the point that I can actually smell it (hot air smell, can't really describe well)...

Have never faced this problem in my hostel, as there's not AC there and the small chair I put my XPS on is not really flat (its curved downwards a bit = better air circulation?)... 

It's never done this even when I use it on my lap... Granted I've never played games on battery... 

Temporary solution, prop the back side up with a book... Now its running at about 20-40 degrees inclination = better air circulation = cooler (but still lukewarm) air...

The Intel temp thingy is showing 40-50 degrees celsius for the CPU, but as there are some people who say that it's incompatible with Vista, I'll have to try again using Everest or something like that...

The highest I've seen the graphics chip temp go is around 70-75 degrees, and even that was when I was experimenting with ATITools (was overclocking the 7400go a bit, eventually got scared that I might fry the chip and returned it to the stock settings)... I'll have to check with Everest later how hot it's running now...

So guys, especially those who have been using their XPS for a while, is this normal or abnormal? I'm guessing that it's normal, and that is has been happening for a while... Its just that only in the dry, cool, empty air of my AC room that I could really notice (and smell) how warm it is... 

Of course, I might be wrong and my 7400go (or the processor) might be burning itself alive...

yups...did asked Dell assistance...they said no problem having the battery inserted...
also concerned about the dust get into the notebook as the battery removed...
it seems the battery area got lots of open spaces that would let the dust easily enter into it...

as far as i know...Dell didn't provide any cover for the battery "hole"...

Is it just me or does the new benq looks exactly like the XPS M1210?

the xps screen size is jus 12inch...is it big enough for gaming or wathing movie??

I read m1330 is coming out July 10th, hmmm and it is said it will be available globally.

impressive. At first i wouldnt mind they have the mousepad more to the left, but now almost all of em have the same feature so im sick of it. My m9700 wont be special anymore.

my XPS batt died on me last week, just got a replacement from dell today. They ugpraded from 6 cell to 9 cell batt for me hahaha

But now my laptop LCD cant display (no power) during startup. Sometimes can sometimes can't. The technician told me it might be mobo, GPU (GF 7400 Go) or the LCD itself. Damnit.....one week without my notebook.
