i briefly mentioned this ZALTV app in post #2 last part:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...yer.zaltv&hl=en

found in tv's playstore, so it is easy to install.

to use this app, u either create your own playlist or use others' by keying in a code.

with a good playlist, u access all kinds of live tv, in hd... and very easy to use... one of the best apps i hv used.

sorry, can't share the code(s) here as a user ethic becos it's meant only for private consumption while some people try to sell it.

can join this FB group to find the current code(s).

the full steps are not available anywhere else but i have written them here some weeks ago.

so, good that u asked.

read post #2 of this thread, last part, the section: ASTROGO/Sideload Apps - Android 7.0:

i have just updated it with a minor amendment.

u will find the answers there.

there are only minor differences between androidtv6 of ue630x and androidtv8 of ua6800x.

if u need more help, can post in ue630x thread:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3811168/+1580
i actually made a post there recently about the set orientation app.

but since the tv is not so new, hardly anyone goes there now, i suppose.

i have updated mine to the latest. The built-in player can read my video files on my 64GB micro sdcard plug into a USB card reader. i have not tested it with external HDD though.

android 7 or 8, u can use the tv's native content player.
trouble is this player can do only aac and dolby... the rest, no audio.

vlc, mx, kodi cud read/play files in android7 but not in 8.
afaik, there has been no update since august.
so, no change.

yes.

and take note the bigger the size, the more demanding it is.

esp mediocre-low quality video input.

in contrast, small size like 32-40", anything may come out acceptable.

Sharp uses VA panel, while Sony's is IPS. VA has better "blacks", make it better contrast overall. Just losing out on viewing angles.

if u r on android8, there is PUFFIN browser approved and installed (unless u said no during update).

common browsers like firefox, chrome are not approved in androidtv so u dun see them in playstore... but u can sideload them.

u can also sideload other browsers like brave, dolphin... no restriction, really.

just be mindful some versions of some browsers come with irritating extensions that u may not like, e.g. pop-ups, reminders, etc.

u need to install sideload launcher to ensure all your apk installed apps show at the homescreen...

Hope this helps .. 😁😁
