Could be campaign related. They are having a campaign for bonus interest for RHB Smart account. Could be that. I don't get it though

Hi all sifus here.
I am looking for a high yield savings and I came across two that caught my eye

1. Citibank 4.88% Savings - seems too good to be true
https://www.citibank.com.my/personal-bankin...avings-account/

2.https://www.axa.com.my/savings-life-protection/esaver AXA eSaver (4 years forced savings - 8% guaranteed)

I dun mind keeping money for few years, saving for kids future. But economic uncertainty, so some liquidity is good. Any advice from sifus here?

The Citibank savings bonus interest is on Incremental Savings only (to a maximum of RM 30k incremental savings per month), NOT the full amount of savings. This bonus will decrease in effectiveness over time very quickly as it only applies to any amount that's been deposited within the calendar month AFTER deducted last month's average balance. In longer term it'll decrease to be weaker than FD. Only worth if super short term (less than a year) and you are able to pump in few thousands of additional cash into the account monthly

eSaver only good if genuinely want forced savings AND life insurance bundled together, and don't mind lack of liquidity. Particularly useful if you don't trust self discipline and at same time you want some life insurance that you cannot qualify for because of health problems or something.

Since it's for kid's future, where you want to keep medium-long term and low risk, just stick to SSPN (take advantage of the tax relief too), or open EPF for child.

No need to look into the Citibank product, what seems too good to be true is not true.

Life insurance product for kids? Are you kidding wink.gif

Just keep it simple. 50% in FD or Junior saver from your bank the other 50% in the most basic ETF one can imagine, a MSCI World with minimum costs.
