I have OCBC 360. Only get to use 2 pillars (no OCBC credit card).

But I have a RHB credit card that uses RM1k/mth. Worth switching to a RHB Smart Account?

I also already have a zero fee basic savings account with RHB. Will I need to pay annual fees with a Smart account? Can I link my Smart account to my savings account?

Currently have a OCBC 360 account. I hit 2 of the 3 pillars usually (DEPOSIT and PAY, but not SPEND). Reason not hitting spend is because I do not have OCBC CC.

Meanwhile, I already use RHB credit card.

Is RHB Smart objectively better than OCBC 360? I see with the RHB Smart account, I could easily get 2.85%, while with OCBC 360 I'm getting usually 1.45%.

Thanks!

Hi folks, what are the fees associated with the RHB Smart Account?

Currently I am using OCBC 360, where the only fee I pay is RM8 debit card fee. I want to switch over to RHB as comparatively the RHB Smart Account has significantly better interest rates. Also, RHB Shell Visa is my primary credit card, so I can hit all pillars to get max interest rates per month pretty easily.

I also already have a RHB BSA (this is a no annual fee account).

I see that I can do an online account application via RHB Now. Appreciate if y'all can share the annual fees and other charges as I can't seem to find any T&Cs.

Also, will the RHB Smart Account automatically pick up my existing RHB credit card, or do I need to do some manual intervention?

Another thing - I see that the RHB Smart Account is a Current Account, vs Savings account for OCBC 360. What are the differences in function and cost between the two?

Thanks!

EDIT: For existing customer with BSA, can I complete the entire signup process online, or need to go to Branch still?

Just applied for the account. However when it came to the final step to deposit Rm1,000, there was a FPX error on RHB website.

I then transferred RM1k on my own into the account.

How can I know now if my account has been fully activated?

This is what I see when I log in and check the account details on the website:

I would like to ask about RHB Smart Account, as I am considering whether to open this current account or not.
I already have a RHB Basic Savings Account, and its RHB debit card is without annual fee (withdrawals limited to 8 times in a month).
Can I choose not to tag my RHB debit card to RHB Smart Account, to avoid debit card annual fee?
Well, if I want to withdraw money from my RHB Smart Account, I would prefer to use RHBNow internet banking website transfer money to my RHB Basic Savings Account, or to my savings accounts in other bank via Instant Fund Transfer. In other words, I do not need to withdraw money via ATM, directly from RHB Smart Account.
thank you for your information. smile.gif

I believe if the existing debit card annual fee is RM0, tagging it to the Smart Account should not change that. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.

Another question: Can withdrawal from ATM be made from RHB Smart Account using the tagged Debit card as per any other normal savings account (given that the Smart account is a Current Account)?

Wait, no ATM withdrawal for Smart account? How come?

On the topic of debit card, I do not see any debit card fees mentioned for Smart account. What makes you say a RM0 debit card will get annual fee of RM8 when it is tagged to Smart account?

owh sorry read wrongly. i mean atm withdrawal is not considered as spending.

only debit card linked to BSA no annual fee. any other accounts linked to debit card has RM8-50 fee.

So for my case, tagging zero AF debit card to RHB Smart account, what will the new debit card annual fee be?

If you do request to tag your current zero annual fee debit card to RHB Smart Account, then they will debit RM8 from your RHB Smart Account every year as the annual fee for the debit card even though the primary account linked to the same debit card is still the non-fee Basic Savings Account. I asked about this a few years back as I have a non-fee RHB Bank Basic Savings Account and a RHB Bank Bonus Saver Account.

In the case of AmBank, as long as the debit card is linked to AmBank non-fee Basic Savings Account and the same card is also linked to other types of savings or current account, the debit card will stay annual fee free.

You asked, yes. But did you follow through? I find bank staffs knowledge questionable sometimes, especially when it comes to edge/rare cases.

Yet it fails to mention that you CAN have a RM0 debit card.

My Maybank savings account (from Yippie days) is not a BSA and yet I was able to get RM0 debit card fees.

Anyways, this matter can be easily put to rest by a forumer who had a free BSA DC tagged to Smart account. What was the outcome?

Coming from OCBC 360, it was easy to hit the Pay criteria. Even regular funds transfer counted.

How about RHB Smart Account? Are regular funds transfer counted? If no, what exactly is counted?

I ask because I did a test transfer from the Smart Account to an account in another bank, it still shows 3 to go, means not counted. It managed to capture my credit card spend (backdated to entire October), so that’s a plus.

Despite tagging my Debit Card to the Smart account, the Debit Card limit is the same as my BSA balance, rather than my Smart account balance.

I thought it should follow the Smart account balance, no?

One final question about RHB Smart.

Credit card / loans / fund transfer TO OTHER BANKS, are these classified as "Pay" (like OCBC 360)?

How about if pay 3x to the same Syabas or TNB account, is that considered as 3x Pay?

Thanks!

joy@work itself is not an account, its a campaign to use your RHB acc as the salary crediting account

So technically you open a smart account then sign up this joy@work campaign to enjoy some extra benefits.

for myself, the bank manager automatically enroll me into this when I asked if any waiver of the card fees.

He told me as long as I credit my salary in here monthly then it should be ok.

1RHB Visa Infinite Credit Card, RHB Visa Signature Credit Card and RHB World MasterCard Credit Card will be waived for first 3 years while other credit cards annual fee waiver is subject to a minimum of 12x swipes in a year. Debit cards annual fee waiver is subject to minimum of 6 retail transactions in a year.

I got the Save and Spend bonus credited to my Smart account.

Is this based on calendar month MAB (i.e. from 1st Oct to 31st Oct), or based on some other period MAB? Cause I feel the interest seems a bit high, given I just had opened it in 27th of October and my MAB must be no more than a few hundred Ringgit.

Edit: Based on my calculation, it seems they took my October MAB only from 27th to 31st (from account opening date to end of the month), and applied the interest on that amount. Then the numbers make sense.

Those using RHB Smart Account, when the new date for transaction running table starts? Mine still stuck at November.
Can u unlock "Bonus Pay" and "Bonus Spend" first then "Bonus Save" lastly as normally salary comes in end of the month.

Transaction running table lags by 2 days.

Yes, you can unlock spend or save bonus, before save bonus.

Kind of a bummer it still maxes out at 2.85%. If only the financing repayment had separate bonus interest, would be amazing. As it is, 2.85% in current times is pretty good.
