No the only reason I want to keep it low profile is to avoid attention by Astro. As such mod is low level programming, if Astro make it harder, then it will be difficult to make any future mod.

Great.... But be careful there with what you admit online.. Later, really can be traced to you and you get a love letter from Astro..Sure, can continue to maintain the mod.. But if you haven't already, I advise some separation between you and the finished stuff. You know, plausible deniability.

tried installing, and all i get was a blank screen after the slash screen logo. uninstalled the original app too. any luck running the app for others?

Okay. I tried it myself. I can't install it over my existing one. The app is carrying a different signature, so either it a mod of the modded, or it is a different mod. So it is not the same. It will give you a different link in PM. You can try to see if there is any difference.

Managed to run v4 when i tested it again this morning, but funny thing is this does not solve the visual lag which happens on Mibox. Maybe I mistook the purpose of this mod, but what is this for again?

The mod only does only one thing. Remove root checking.

2 common problems with the new app version(s):

.. some boxes root not totally closed, root detected, can't install.
.. (some) ATV devices like mibox and smart TVs report judders on live HD channels.

the second problem... post #747, a user of sony ATV reported current official version works good for him.
as mibox is also on ATV, u can try that.
do report in if it works on yr box.

That's why I wanted people to TRY edit the android box and use the build.prop of Sony TV, only 4 lines in build.prop needed to be changed.

On my box, x92, I modded the build.prop to mimic sony TV then only app such as iflix, HBO GO Malaysia and perhaps including Astro Go will not misbehave during video playback.

I have limited access to the types of hardware, so this is not a well tested "hypothesis". Do it at your own risks.

i am sure tx3mini and tx3max are both originally rooted.
there is option to close root under settings.
u need root closure for astro go to work.

i m not sure about tx6.

I have an X92 box, 3gb+16gb variant, iinm it is unroot since the official Astro Go app can be downloaded and installed directly from the playstore, login and run with no problem.

The issue I have so far is whenever I want to play any channel eg a live tv HD channel..

1. when I play the channel, it will immediately play but in SD quality for 5 secs.
2. Then, it will pause and buffer for around 5-10secs
3. Then, it plays in HD, but lags.. for around 5 secs.
4. Finally, the hd channel plays smoothly.

I believe I'm having this issue is because i'm using my umobile gx30 hotspot hp connection, dont have unifi etc, so the connection isn't that fast enough to straightaway stream in HD without buffering.

And yes, the apk is the latest version.. either via playstore or via astro go app force update.

what u experience is normal... a matter of 5 secs, 10 sec or 3 secs for it to go HD.

so, it is fine with official apk.

if above x92 is good with official apk, sure u still need apk modification or "sony buildprop" editing?

We are not using the same ROM. I believe he is using the stock ROM which I believe is only 32bit android zygote, I am using a true 64 bit kernel and 64 bit zygote.

yes, it is that easy if it has the option.

but u should check/confirm same exist for tx6.

i have tx5max which does NOT have this feature - need some app or procedure to close root for good.

and some report box goes blank, bricked... so... be careful if it does not have simple option to close root.

Hi All Sifu here.. I'm newbie into this topic, just subscribe into Astro GO on my iPhone 6 then only realize Astro GO not allow Airplay to my Mi Box 3 Pro White Enhanced Edition MDZ-18-AA. Is the Astro GO only not allow Airplay to Mi Box 3 Pro White Enhanced Edition MDZ-18-AA or all kind of Android TV Box also cannot be Airplay?

At the same time, I tried to download Astro GO from APK pure and install into my Mi Box 3 Pro White Enhanced Edition MDZ-18-AA, When launch the apps, it show black screen only. Any Sifu here facing the same issue? Any solution?
