Hi,
I'm using MSI X570 Gaming Plus, recently just purchased Crucial MX500 SSD 1TB. When run CrystalDiskMark, it only managed to hit 400MB/s for read speed. Then I retest my OS drive which is Adata SX8200Pro NVME which bought last year, the speed only can reach 2800MB/s read speed. Not sure whether related to recent update of AMD chipset and BIOS. As previously the NVME drive managed to hit the max speed. What could be the possible issue? Thinking whether to reformat the OS drive..... |

QUOTE(cyclone2 @ Dec 18 2020, 10:11 AM) Hi, Speed will drop when you fill the disk. Takes time for the system to search for the data. Luckily your SSDs got DRAM. DRAMless SSDs performance hit is harder.I'm using MSI X570 Gaming Plus, recently just purchased Crucial MX500 SSD 1TB. When run CrystalDiskMark, it only managed to hit 400MB/s for read speed. Ohh.... I didn't noticed that the speed would drop as disk is filled..... Newer SX8200 Pro got slower controller and NAND flash. Will try to empty the SSD and retest the speed again. Thanks alot. |

QUOTE(cyclone2 @ Dec 18 2020, 12:08 PM) Ohh.... I didn't noticed that the speed would drop as disk is filled..... Windows also can cause lower result, such as it also processing something else or something in background, CPU power or speed being limited, the storage controller less optimized for that SSD, Windows have been running other programs heavily or stay booted for many days which cause it to be less optimized. And many other reasons. Will try to empty the SSD and retest the speed again. Thanks alot. My advice is as long as you doesn't feel any slowdown when using it, no need waste your time trying to find out why it doesn't benchmark at its advertised speed. |
