Wrong terminology
M.2 is available for both SATA & NVMe

M.2 is only the connector. New Wi-Fi cards also use M.2 connector
Not all M.2 supports NVMe and the same thing for SATA, not all M.2 connector supports SATA

You need to check your system compatibility properly
*
Essentially M.2 is just a PCIe/SATA/USB port with different shape and power built-in:

Well, lazada was kind enough to release 50 off 250 voucher in the final hours of 11.11 plus some other free shipping and small amount voucher from seller I guess.

This is nothing compared to my other steal. Bought 2 Galaxy Tab S6 for less than 3.5k on 11.11
*
and i thought my steal on crucial mx500, 500gb for rm220 was good!

Samsung Evo 860 500gb 12.12 RM285

Just wait and see if there special voucher...

Even though I posted this earlier, I was surprised they are allowed to alter the pricing on 12.12 after advertising then. They hike the pricing on 12.12 from 285 to 299.

Btw, anyone using Samsung QVO drives? Seems like Samsung trying to clear it during 1212. Many in lazada posting RM529 for 1TB capacity for 1212.

If we to buy a SSD as thumbdrive , which brand is suitable ?
and also external casing ?
Prefer SSD since mechanical HDD can't be drop.

1. NVMe or 2.5 ?
2. External casing ?
3. More on read than write.
4. Using usb 2.0 for read on smart TV.

but on smart tv there is no safely unplug. Will it corrupt the data ? Once the press the red button on the remote control , it'll also turn off the SSD/HDD.

If want low cost get 2.5 sata ssd with casing cheaper, if need faster transfer rate get m.2 with usb c casing.

Hey guys. Anyone using WD SN550 1TB SSD? Any comment? This NVME SSD seems to be priced near to SATA SSD.

I'm planning to use it to install games.

Not important on transfer rate.As long as it's not below 20mb for a USB2.0 read speed.

No problem coz SSD not like hdd, no motor or no moving part. Only problem if ssd still running or copy data, the file/data could be corrupt, just make sure the light at external ssd casing not blinking before switch off.

being sata/nvme doesn't mean it will be cheaper or more expensive. the current trend is not like 3 years ago.

All WD SN550 1TB in Lazada seems to be out of stock...I guess I'll go for Crucial MX500. Or is there any alternative for NVME for WD SN550 1TB?

Additionally, do you need heatsink or heat spreader? My motherboard is using pciex3.0.

You can't use NVMe on SATA
That converter converts M.2 SATA to SATA, not M.2 NVMe to SATA

NVMe can never be converted to SATA. Full stop. Period. End of story
