no. usually for a sata ssd like yours, it can only run up to the max advertised speeds (sequential r/w, random r/w, as shown in 850 evo m.2 specifications table). rapid mode in samsung magician uses a small part of your total system ram as cache for applications and data stored in your ssd. since ram is much faster than nand flash, this feature helps reduce application load time, and data reads/writes, hence making your system relatively more responsive. besides that it also helps reduce writes to ssd, hence prolong ssd's shelf life.

which models are you looking at? not all models are built equal.
honestly it's not a good choice to pick up a new ssd without dram cache, especially when the price gap between ssds with and without dram is so narrow these days.

bx500 is really not optimal considering all other options. it's a good example of the 'why' we suggest ssds with dram.

for instance, compared to mx500, with a sight price gap between the two, you get 2 more years of warranty + dram cache with mx500 (hence, relatively better performance, and a capable caching component that is much faster and doesn't cause writes on nand). you can get a better idea with reviews like this one, https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crucia...0-ssd,5377.html (note that the controller used in bx500 is a 4-channel controller; and it uses micron 64l tlc nand, like mx500)
