haha.. even Luno has been doing this since much earlier but is still being selected and it has been 3 months the issue remains unresolved.
If mentioned KYC/AML guidelines are the main concern, IRB/Maybank should have released the account... So I believe there is other non-compliance issue such as no submission of annual return, tax return or whatever....
As far as we're concerned, we have always been transparent and played by the rules with authorities and the bank. Hence, it is very frustrating for us as well.

There are have some exchange in Malaysia is resumed service already...How can Luno only have stuck until now? What is your chase action? 3 months enough for your chasing to the moon....Please do your right way like other exchange to release our money....
We will continue to chase for this with Maybank. However, as per our latest status message -- we are also talking to other banks in parallel.

Hi Aaron. If this is the case, and you said all other exchanges already started operating again. Why cant Luno just open another account, let say CIMB and use that as a medium for people to transfer money in and out Luno. I believe with over 40 countries in operation, Luno has millions of capital to open a new bank account. So u can now run Luno exchange like normal while chasing bank to unfreeze your Maybank account.
After all, even after Maybank unfreeze the account, it would be handy if Luno has 2 account for more efficient transfer to CIMB and Maybank user.
Or, could it be, this doesnt happen, because Luno no longer has the money to operate?
Hi wildan,
Yes, as per our latest status message, we are already talking to other banks in parallel. It would be great if we had multiple bank accounts to transfer as you mentioned. However as this is a really new industry (and perhaps the banks are very cautious too), it is taking a while. Thanks a lot for the suggestion.

Luno is likely to have repatriated available funds to London or wherever daily. Amount frozen at Maybank is likely small.
All customer funds remain safe in the Maybank account. We would never do something like this. (Actually hypothetically speaking, Malaysia has strict capital controls so even another foreign company who might want to do this wouldn't be able to.)
