Hi, unfortunately all I know right now is the internal decision is within the bank. But our senior management continues to chase them hard for the reopening.

Hi, what do you mean by “decision”? Sounds to me like the bank can suddenly “decide” to not reinstate your account. Is that a possibility?

Update - This week, Bank Negara (BNM) issued a policy document around reporting requirements for digital currency exchanges. This is a new and positive development in our view and Maybank is considering this in light of our account.

Luno has been working with BNM to formulate these requirements, and Maybank is aware of this. We hope the reporting requirements provide Maybank with clarity on how we move forward together.

We have been in touch with them following this policy release and are also talking to other banks in parallel. Rest assured, we are making progress overall.

Yesterday, only Maybank was grabbing Luno by the balls.

Today, both BNM + Maybank are grabbing Luno by the balls.

Tomorrow, 1MDB + BNM + Maybank will be grabbing Luno by the balls.

Next month, NASA + RSPCA + 1MDB + BNM + Maybank will all be grabbing Luno's balls.

When is this sh*t going to end? We are being taken for a ride. I would be surprised if I received my withdrawal in the next 90 days.

As long as withdrawal is frozen, luno could roll the funds for free.

I truly believe Luno can’t access the money and therefore can’t roll it.

However, if I owe you money but I can’t pay you because someone else is interfering with my finances, it’s not your damn problem right? It’s still my responsibility to pay you, regardless if my pet dog or dead grandfather is holding my money.

Many already know the bank account was closed somewhere in Dec

@mrluno care to comment on this?

There are a couple of individuals who claim they have proof that the Maybank account is empty AND closed, not frozen.

Hey David, I've been seeing some comments on allegations that our Maybank account is empty and closed. This is untrue on all fronts. I've personally been to meet Maybank myself now, and all customer funds are still safe with them.

(Not sure where the "proof" that it's empty and closed came from -- but if they run a proper investigation, they'll find that it's all there, still with Maybank. I believe this is purely a case of misinformation/misunderstanding/rumours.)

Hi Aaron / MrLuno,

Thank you very much for your comments.

So, to reaffirm, your Maybank account under the name Bitx Malaysia Sdn Bhd bearing the number 514253527796 has NOT been closed, correct? It's just frozen, right?

I feel the need to clarify this, as "closed" and "frozen" carry two vastly different connotations.

Looking forward to receiving your answer.

Hi David,

Thanks for this question.

We confirm that all customer funds remain safe within the Maybank account. (I've personally been to see the bank manager myself.) We're working out details on withdrawals now and will issue a detailed statement as soon as possible.

Hi Aaron / MrLuno,

Thanks for the answer. I appreciate that you've chosen to reply rather than skip the questions. I hope you keep it up.

I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that the funds are inside the Maybank account, however you still have not answered the core of my question.

(A) The funds are inside the Maybank account, but the account has been closed down

(B) The funds are inside the Maybank account, but the account is frozen/suspended

It's a simple either/or question. Please just pick either (A) or (B). Both carry vastly different connotations, and I believe we are owed this information at the very least.

Looking forward to receiving your answer.

Paging Aaron / MrLuno.

It has been exactly 1 week (almost to the hour) since my last post.

Please reply, thank you.
