Actually can do at official DIGI store now - at least when I asked the sales person -but you don't get the current RM61 rebate - you can sim immediately though.

I opted for online though

But Digi infinite is not a broadband plan. It still has one selling point: mobility. So even if it does not reduce the price, people will still get jt which mobility is not something a fixed fibre broadband can provide.
*
Yes, you are absolutely right. The selling point of mobility which equates to convenience, especially for those in areas without broadband infrastructure is a blessing indeed. I am one of those who really appreciates that DiGi gave us the i150.

Hi all, just want to share with you all my experience with different modem.

When i bought i150, i insert the Digi simcard into my MAXIS Broadband modem HUAWEI B315-22S.
I have used it for 4-5 days, with average speed of around 15 Mbps, Ping is around 24s.
In some ocassion, the speed that i have will even drop down to 5 Mbps.

This is due to below average receiving signal in my area, Seremban 2.

Hence, i decided to look for a better modem.

With the recommendation to get TM Unifi Wifi modem - Huawei B618, and paid for it for RM569 ...

It was totally a significant improvement over the B315.

Reason - The B618 enable Digi 4G+ speed, which is not available in B315.

My speed went up 2X-3X instantly and i am now very happy with the i150 package!
*
Great sharing there Bro! I am glad that the B618 works like a charm for you and made you a happy camper. Without any doubt, it truly is the undisputed king of 4G+/LTE modems.

QUOTE(ave666 @ Sep 26 2018, 03:43 PM)
Message the agent via mydigi app and she said it cannot be change. Lol. It's very inconvenient for me to having bill on middle of the month. Not like I can't pay it month end but that's why I'm registered on my payday. Not on Maggi period. 🤕
*
I also tried requesting to the DiGi CS previously for a change of dates to my billing cycle to coincide with my CC billing but they don't me that is computer generated and they can't do it. I even spoke to a DiGi staff in the DiGi Store but was also told the same. I laid it to rest after the second attempt.

Yup, better to register online to be eligible for the rebate. Worth the few days of waiting for the sim card.

You need to check ...

First, is your area coverage with 4G+

If YES, then is your current device can support 4G+

If NO, then it is really worth to go get B618!

Why, i have similar problem like you. But now i am very happy since i bought the B618 and enjoying 2X-3X speed of previous modem B315 which only support 4G.

Checking on digi web,4G LTE-A..

When using B315 modem, average around 12 Mbps, worst can below 5 Mbps.

When now change to B618, average is around 30 Mbps, worst is around 15 Mbps, then have 20% good time reaching 48-50 Mbps.

Dear all
I have accidentally reset Netgear Nighthawk M1 and subsequently the LTE band selection option disappears after this reset. Anyway to get this feature back? Thanks in advance for any input.

Tutorial on how to set band and Carrier aggregation (CA) for AC 790S

As you guys know, there's very little info or tutorial on how to change the band in AC790s Netgear AirCard.

So I would like to share on how to lock the band manually. It will be useful for those who bought the AC790s/AC810s directly from taobao where most of the item has not been configured to lock the band manually.

Those who are interested to get AC790s, here's a link for the cheapest trusted seller in taobao. It cost RM250 including shipping. Use local bank transfer with 1.5% transfer fee. The shipping arrived within a week.

You can easily save RM50-150 compared to if you purchase from a direct local seller (where usually the high tag-price includes band choosing/option AKA band locking and warranty).

First of all, LTE Band option is not available or pre-configured on the AC790s. At the network settings (either LCD display on the modem or on the web 192.168.1.1), u can only see 3 options:

1) AUTO
2) WCDMA only
3) LTE only

The option will not provides band choosing. So our aim is to add at least another 3 more options which turnout to be like this

1) AUTO
2) WCDMA only
3) LTE only
4) Band 3 only
5) Band 7 only
6) Band 3+7 CA

Without further ado, let's get started.

1) Enable port forwarding and remote access at the router settings (Web 192.168.1.1). Default password for AC790s is admin.

2) Then download PuTTY for windows. If you are using mac, u can download PuTTY for mac but it requires you to download xcode and macport. I will focus on windows in this topic. U need a PC to do this, I don't know if there is any Android or IOS software to access the modem port.

3) There are multiple ways to connect to the router port using PuTTY. But I will use only 2 options which are 1) using Virtual COM that you need to download a driver here: AC78xSDrivers and install it, or 2) you can connect directly without using driver. However, both ways are connected to the PC using USB cable.

4) Access PuTTY. PuTTY UI will look like this.

user posted image

Connecting AT Port using Virtual Driver: COM
So if you are using Virtual COM driver, install the driver after downloading. Once finished, right click "My Computer" to access computer management/device management.

Go to the Port management, and you will see below drivers were installed

NETGEAR WWAN Modem VSP (COMX)
NETGEAR DM Port VSP (COMX)
NETGEAR NMEA Port VSP  (COMX)

See the COM number (X) in the bracket for NETGEAR WWAN Modem VSP. Once you've identify which COM, then proceed to PuTTY.

Connect modem to the router using USB

Put in the particular

Host Name: COM_ (fill in the number)
Port: It will automatically filled
Connection type: Serial

Then click open. Go to Step 5 if successful. If you cant access, try alternative connection using TELNET below.

Connecting AT Port Using TELNET connection

Connect modem using USB cable.
Make sure, the modem IP was 192.168.1.1. (if different then you need to put in different IP below.

Go to PuTTY

Insert particular as below
Host Name: 192.168.1.1
Port: 5510
Connection type: Telnet

Click open.

5) A pop-up black empty command terminal will be shown. There will be an alert box to inform you if the connection was unsuccessful. If nothing happen, try to type
CODE
AT!BAND=?

It will show something like this.

CODE
Index, Name, GW Band Mask L Band Mask
00, All Bands,
01, WCDMA ALL,
02, LTE ALL,

Then, we need to access the root of the modem by putting password.

Here are the list of the password available and you need to try on your own on each of the password below.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Example
CODE
AT!ENTERCND="sunflower"

If you managed to get OK code, the root access is successful. Keep trying different password available above. (If you failed, then you may need to brute-force with a library, or google it.)
Then type again
CODE
AT!BAND=?

A list which is longer than previous will set in.

CODE

Index, Name, GW Band Mask L Band Mask
00, Auto, 0002000004C00000 00000000080000C5
01, WCDMA All, 0002000004C00000 0000000000000000
02, LTE All, 0000000000000000 00000000080000C5

0000010000000000 – B41
0000008000000000 – B40
0000002000000000 – B38
0000000000080000 – B20
0000000000000080 – B8
0000000000000040 – B7
0000000000000004 – B3
0000000000000001 – B1
0002000000000000 – B8 (900)
0000000004000000 – B5 (850)
0000000000800000 – B2 (1900)
0000000000400000 – B1 (2100)

OK

The top section 00, 01, and 02 were actually the options displayed on the network settings on the LCD screen/browser.

The bottom one (0000000x - Bx) are actually the definitions for each band. Each modem might have different definition. In this case, an LTE Band 3 definition is 0000000000000004 or 04 and Band 7 is 0000000000000040.

We are using 04, 40 and 80 (band 3,7, and 8) for the option

Once the definition codes are identified, now is the time we add the extra band

to add the band you need to type like this

CODE
AT!ENTERCND="sunflower"
AT!BAND=X,"Y",0,Z

X = band position on the display. Don't choose 1,2,3 or more than 10. 1,2,3 is the default options (Auto, 3g only, 4g only). Try choose 4 upwards
Y = is the name that you want to display. Keep it simple like (LTE B7 or B8, or LTE B3+B7). You can name it anything you like as long as you know what it is
Z =  is the code of the band that I've mentioned above. In this case i wanna choose Band 3, so the code is 04.

The code should be like this

CODE
AT!ENTERCND="sunflower"
AT!BAND=4,"LTE BAND 3",0,04

You can add for Band 7 and 8 the same way like above, but you need to change the X to another position such as 5, and 6.

CODE
AT!ENTERCND="sunflower"
AT!BAND=5,"LTE BAND 7",0,40

AT!ENTERCND="sunflower"
AT!BAND=6,"LTE BAND 8",0,80

Each of the command will result in OK if successful. If there was a problem, there will be an ERROR indicator.

Now, you can't see anything yet on the display of the LCD/browser network setting. Restart the router first.

Once restarted, you will see all the settings that you have put in on top of the existing options.

Choose any setting that you want (let say Band 3) and click ok.

A notification alert will be shown that you have disconnected the network. Click connect and it will reconnect back.

Now, go to PuTTY terminal back, type

CODE
AT!GSTATUS?

and it will show somewhat like this.

CODE

!GSTATUS:
Current Time: 54275 Mode: ONLINE
System mode: LTE PS state: Attached
EMM state: Registered Normal Service
RRC state: RRC Connected
IMS reg state:
LTE band (cell 1): B7
LTE bw (cell 1): 15 MHz
LTE Rx chan (cell 1): 9410
LTE Tx chan (cell 1): 27410
RSSI (cell 1) (dBm): -65.7
RSRP (cell 1) (dBm): -92.5
RSRQ (cell 1) (dB): -6.8
RSSNR (cell 1) (dB): 13
Tx Power (dBm): 0.0
Cell ID (cell 1): 136515587
Phy Cell ID (cell 1): 158
TAC: 12387

Test your speedtest or fast.com to check your speed. Compare each band to see any different.
6) Now, the tricky part, the carrier aggregation

Similar to creating option for single band, a similar AT command will be used. But the code for CA will be different.

The code is simply adding up between band code.

For example, to combine Band 3 and 7 which is 04 and 40, the code is 04+40 = 44.
So the code for B3+7 is 44

Thus, the code should be like this

CODE
AT!ENTERCND="sunflower"
AT!BAND=7,"LTE B3+B7",0,44

Restart the router, and choose option 7 (LTE B3+B7). The router data will be disconnected, and click connect at the notification.

Connect back to PuTTY, and type
CODE
AT!GSTATUS?

There will be TWO bands as shown as below if the network support it.

CODE

AT!GSTATUS?
!GSTATUS:
Current Time: 254 Mode: ONLINE
System mode: LTE PS state: Attached
EMM state: Registered Normal Service
RRC state: RRC Connected
IMS reg state: No Srv

PCC:
LTE band: B7
LTE bw: 15 MHz
LTE Rx chan: 2850
LTE Tx chan: 20850
RSSI (dBm): -73.5
RSRP (dBm): -101.5
RSRQ (dB): -7.2
RSSNR (dB): 19
Tx Power (dBm): 11.0
LTE Cell ID: 253717762
Physical Cell ID: 29
TAC: 9987

SCC1:
LTE band: B3
LTE bw: 10 MHz
LTE Rx chan: 3048
RSSI (dBm): -78.3
RSRP (dBm): -97.1
RSRQ (dB): -9.7
Physical Cell ID: 252132362

OK

Test the speedtest and see if the CA helps to increase the speed compared to single band lock.

Goodluck and happy hacking.

which speedtest server you choose? i find that all ookla servers giving different results.
most stable is Maxis and Extreme Broadband, sometimes IX Telecom in Cyberjaya.

But never get to reach 150mbps. You must be staying right under the tower?

yup, notice that also, digi ookla server is missing.
Maybe digi didn't pay the fees for the license or expired already.

Its funny, that previously speedtest with digi's own server is slower than others, e.g. Extreme Broadband
Wonder why??? anybody knows?

Yes, each gives different results but will not vary much.

Nope, not under tower. If under tower, I would have dead by now, quite a distance based on the Signal something app (I have deleted the app).

DiGi was having issue with their server. But is back on speedtest list as is today morning.

I was having bad speed in Band 3 and Band 7, turns out all i need was to reboot my modem and my speed is back.

I've tried 3am speedtest. peaking 52mbps of download.. now everyday avg 37mbps.

For those who are using B315, can't expect much speed due to Class4 modem 150mbps and no dual band usage, You may lock into single band in which you find the fastest. as for me, Band 7 2600mhz is faster than Band 3 1800mhz.
