The press conference for hd-dvd that was supposed to happen in CES 2008 has been postponed to a latter time and will be held in some hotel instead of the CES area. Warner really screws things up for hd-dvd after they make that announcement.

If more company goes to Blu-ray .. hd-dvd will certainly be in trouble.

Well, the HD-DVD camp is definitely in trouble, they have Paramount on their site but they lost Warner to the dark side. What's next? Halo The Movie from Microsoft on HD-DVD. brows.gif

So can i say its a blessing in disguise that my 360 died on me? Cause I was so going to get a HD-DVD add-on. I guess its not exactly a wise move now. Then again, my 360 is still dead! vmad.gif

hm...

i thought consumer power is much more influential rather than these studios back-ups. What i mean here is consumers, (especially me) always want affordable things, looking at HD-DVD's low start-up cost, i always think HD-DVD gonna wins.. but now, smile.gif

thats why i spend my money to set-up the audio parts 1st. smile.gif

well...let's just see. but shit...all u know...that explains my sudden interest in blu-rays. maybe they'll win after all.

looks like either i wait for the multi format player to come out and sell my add on, or just get a ps3. hey at least i get to watch blu rays and only buy ps3 exclusive games..the ones worth it.

i think dual format is not going to be a success.. consumers wants 1 format only...

look at the bright side, is this means we gonna see Tosh HD-A35 price flooring?

If blu-ray or hd-dvd wins, we actually stand to lose. There won't be any more BOGOs to sway consumers to adopt BD/HD.

Price increase for BD players and BD movies will come into play, its gonna be a monopoy for SONY.
Anybody remember's SONY rookit and DRM issue? We are actually benefiting now from their fights. Sadly its gonna end...

So pick up some good HDDVD titles while we can whistling.gif

I dont know how you guys figured out that hd dvd will win the format war. Except for hardware prices, all indicators are pointing blu-ray for the longest time. Software sales, widest industry support, more future-proof format and 90% dominance in Japanese market and global majority in favor of blu (eg. Malaysia?).

With WB turn blu, we have 70:30 film content in blu.

Dont get me wrong, I have both HD DVD and Blu-ray player.

Future-proof? Only their PS3 is future-proof (firmware upgradeable). Other BD players aren't so. Many stories of newer discs not compatible with older players. At least HD players are upgradeable.

This is how poorer tech actually can win (with USD200-450mil up for Warner's exclusivity for 3Qs). With SONY losing money on every PS3 sold, this payout is gonna make another dent in their PL accounts.

I didnt say HD or BD will win it, all I am saying is there won't be any other better times for us as consumers as what we have now.

Rumour is there might be 1 or 2 Blu Ray studios going neutral, let's see how it goes. There's still a million HD-DVD players sold alone in the US, so why not milk it?

Its the format thats future proof, not the player. Nobody said WB took money, and if so, lets talk Paramount. And what about Sony losing money with every PS3 sold? I don't see the relation with the better format.
Please tell which studio romoured to be going neutral. Millions HD-DVD player??? Last I read was 700,000 region. Dude, r u ok??

Bro, read this article and think abt BETTER FORMAT - Link
We know what's the better format, but the problem is its not going out to enough ppl.

Talk abt Paramount all you want, we all know how it goes.

Dude, i said 1 million (NOT MILLIONS) which is probably the figure its already at now, since 750K units were sold since late Nov 07. And its Christmas season too, for crying out loud. There's such a huge jump in player sales every month. I wasn't talking abt the better format, I was referring to how it relates to our situation now, buying decently priced movies.

Like I said before, Sony's BD is actually a WIP, and whereas HD is already a finalized storage medium. Yes, SONY is winning so I just want to let others know what kinda difference it could make.

Abt the "rumours", yeah its a rumour. Something that might or might not be. Why get THAT excited over it? tongue.gif
I don't wanna shoot myself in the leg now, would I, unless its a fact.

Dude, tell us how it goes with Paramount and apparently u alleged it in your posting abt WB with sums of money exclusivity. U called it black, I said its the same. So its moot point. Please dont even compare Christmas sales, pricier blu-ray player outsold HD-DVD. Please read up. This was one of many major factors WB took into consideration. Again moot point.

I was not EXCITED abt the rumour. I'M only EXCITED WHERE U GET THAT FROM or are u just making up??
