QUOTE(mengsuan @ Mar 30 2007, 01:21 PM) It means you overclock until it's no longer stable. Nothing to do with vista actually. Your solution is: 1) Do not overclock 2) Reduce clock speed 3) Increase V core-can be dangerous for beginners before this used xp...no prob when oc...but when i changed to vista..cannot boot into windows...dunno why...

QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Mar 31 2007, 08:40 PM) i think u can activate not more than 3 times if using OEM version. complete retail version allows u activate more. QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Mar 31 2007, 09:23 PM) OEM only lets you activate on one PC, and binds your Windows to that PC only. Mine is full retails version. My friend said can activate for 10 PC ,don't know this news is true or not. This post has been edited by WingKalimdor: Apr 1 2007, 03:06 PM

Getting Started

|
Hey guys, I got a problem to relate on the Vista. Got myself a Vista Ultimate recently it was all good, however, to my surprise, Vista wasn't able to read my previously burned DVD+r or CD-R discs and it either keep ejecting the disc out or nothing showing under the DVD drive itself. My DVD-RW drive is Pioneer DVR-110D for your information. Btw, the burned disc reads fine under Windows XP. Any thoughts? edit: Just an update, I tried the burned media on my mate's laptop, whose running Vista too, works perfectly well. Hmm, does that mean my dvd-rom need a little tweakage? Or do you guys reckon NVIDIA PCI management thingy has got to do with this? My motherboard is ASUS A8N-SLI, nForce 4 chipset. Cheers. Edit2: Actually guys, I just reboot my PC and now it reads the discs fine. Weird but anyway, thanks for looking at my problem. This post has been edited by nFiniteFX: Apr 1 2007, 09:23 PM

QUOTE(dualshock @ Apr 1 2007, 03:20 PM) his are not realtek...his are cmedia...so far no vista driver yet... I'm using Cmedia audio . So far I didn't need to install the driver because the Windows automatically installed when it was formated. I kinda weird for certain people who didn't get their sound installed.

Anyone here ever use DVD RW/ROM Drive with Sata instead of IDE drive?
I guess Sata DVD Drives are better in Vista rig.

Until now, Vista is problematic with third party software regarding the compatiblity issue. I still much prefer XP. A lot of softwares still won't work correctly. There is not much an issue when XP first lauched.
But has not much complaint besides the third party software compatiblity, it seems load faster than XP or just the machine is new. May be need to wait awhile before the drivers and compatibility issues being rectified.

Don;t use that setup. go to device manager, and choose the one that has the '?' icon. That should be your sound device. right click and choose update driver. after that choose the folder that contains the Cmedia driver. That what I usually do anyways

This can be found on ur Burner manufacturer website.

QUOTE(adriankhoo153 @ Mar 29 2007, 04:15 PM) Yup, all the same.. no porblem using other player. My problem is exactly like this The error happens most often when a video file is done playing and I close the player. Immediately after closing the player I receive a pop-up saying that "Windows Media Player has stopped working". The problem event name is always APPCRASH. The latest exception code is c0000374 with an exception offset of 000aa0fb. At last solve this problem by uninstalling XPCodec. Now using K Lite Mega pack. At first was using k-Lite full but cannot play .rmcb file. Now only i know that K Lite Mega Pack can play .rmvb. Problem solved!

Wowoweee, sooooooooooooo many issues with windows Vista. I envied my friend when he bought his home basic edition. Now... not so much.
I want directx 10, I want windows media player 11, I want better security, I want stability.
But I absolutely dont want to stab my eyes with a fork when vista decided to rape me without a condom.
So ....... should I wait for Vista to weed out the bugs and compatibility issues and for the major component/software manufacturers to catch up with vista?
Before I dive into unknown territories?
For RM305, it's quite cheap though.
which version is better? home basic or premium?
FYI: I've tried IE7, so much bugs I can open an insect muzium with it.

Can somebody answer my question on the buggyness of windows Vista?
Is it worth the headache to get it now? Or wait for it to mature? Patch itself up ?
off topic: Vista ultimate edition better in terms of what?
