The sad part is that we cant even protest in newspaper/media coz it will only generate public interest in sg, which will make people want it even more, which will make demands soar, which in turn will make these pet shops stock up more on underage joeys to meet up supply

maybe we should hire ppl to go undercover at main petshops.. tell ppl interested to buy to not buy there lolx.

Well, for one is the Media cannot state the shop's name... or they will get sued.... so if I send a letter to them, they will erase out the name and say "a petshop in KL"... KL got so many petshops..... silly people.

sigh...

then again, nothing can be done. Only those seen pictures will know but how many potential buyers come into LYN. furthermore, besides certain threads, some threads are really hopeless filled with people who wants to make quick bucks too. If we can't even stop within this small community, what else can we do I wonder.

It is a hopeless and losing battle at the end of the day...

I know that it is not possible in BKK but what would happen if a report was filed with your "Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals" or are they just a "toothless tiger" ?? & wont take any action

ya but then sometimes you see those babies still suffering there. And yet you cant do anything. Its like this also wrong, that also wrong.

You prevent someone from buying, but then the baby will still continue to suffer in that place. Being pass from one hand to another. If that person buy, the baby might not be properly look after, but then it was never properly taken care of in the first place.

just to update you all on something.
Choley was being very aggresive towards me,
she knows that i'm afraid of her, she can bully me freely.
sometimes she's so active that i cant even handle her at all.

After more than 2 weeks, things didnt improve,
instead she got worse and crabbd even more.
I told this to hun, she said that i'd give it a another week.
So i did, but things got worse.

I informed Hun about this, and she told me that maybe chloey isnt the right glider to me.
Because i'm not ready to handle an active joey,
and i agree that some pets need special ppl2care for them.
I felt sad to part with her,but i know that there is some1 more suitable 4 her.

So i got to meet another glider available,Foxy.
She was named Foxy because she looked like a fox.
As i handled her, i felt that she was different from chloey.
She was calmer(likes to be massaged) and slightly less crabby,
And i decided that maybe foxy suits me more,
so i made up my mind to take foxy home with me.

Foxy is good now, she is sleeping inside my shirt,
i can hold her and cuddle her.
Now she doesnt crab when i hold her,things are goin on pretty well.
Chloey is with reanne for the time being.

WTF ! this also happend at PS ikano .. those gliders are trying to sleep in a small cardboard box with no roof. then one of the staff pick up one of them , let other ppl touch them and say stupid stuff . damn i hate them !

Petshops are getting more pathetic each day!

Yeah, babies are easier to handle or tame, but they are easier to die too, damn it!

Yes, if we write to the papers, they'll erase out the names.

I think we will have no choice but to educate the public about sugar gliders!

1) I've got flyers done actually. With basic informations about suggies. We should distribute them to petshops which sells suggies.

2) Create an article or special report about suggies in the newspapers.



SPCA, does not have much specialty on exotics. Plus they don't really cater to small animals.

Aiyo that Midvalley pet shop, sometime c those pet very "sayang" 1, no space no clean event no house to sleep, most of time just care those dog dog cat cat, exotic pet like no 1 care at there just leave there.

like sense_less143 said, other ppl will know about suggies and they will start buying also. meaning while we are trying to educate these ppl, we also promoting suggies to the public and actualy helping the petstore selling them and they will bring more since there's increase in demands.

this also happen to ferrets. but lucky ferret aint available locally and the stock just come once a year with small quantities. i bought akira from someone that bath him everyday .. , give friskies , small cat cage , the previous owner dont even vaccined him and dont even know akira's gender !

hey hey, anyone have any special technic to tame the glider? haha...
the male i having is already bout half years staying with my 'fatty' (my female glider), but till now also his emotion is not stable yet. sometimes he will try to run away whenever i open the cage's door, sometimes he will not even let me touch him, but sometimes he will let do anything to him without any noise. huh..... (luckily the fatty is a good girl. haha...)

dai86 stady man, my suger glider already 2 year also something like that, mine is female and she want came out just for playing, maybe she start don't like in cage already.

Maybe need to stay more time with him or use those trick like put some honey on your finger and let him lips, ( i won't say he won't bite, my sugar glider will bite but not so hard, she is testing is it can eat or not. Just let him bite until he won't scare your finger or hand. )

I feel not so tame for my sugar glider, so i also learning for that

An example of a joey at an age that can be sold. Almost 2 months, was kept with the mother until almost 2 months. Fed on a good high protein diet. Handsome little boy that I'm taking care of for awhile.









Let's use this to compare.

Thank you for the info Reanne, i feel that nowadays pet shop sell those sugar glider like too young, same as the lowest that picture. Althought it can move move around but feel like to early to sell it.

@vincent: what to do . they want the profit. cannot wait another month for them to mature enough to sell them .
