QUOTE(kikiz @ Sep 5 2007, 02:32 PM)
Some of you bring your suggies to your workplace. However if your suggie is still not bonded to you yet, do you let it out at your office when its awake? If so, aren't you worried that it might run off or hide somewhere?
*

No. Do not let your suggie wonder especially in public places when they are not bonded to you. They will run away if afraid and hide at places you won't be able to find.

Make sure your suggie is bonded before attempting to let them out in public.

QUOTE(kikiz @ Sep 5 2007, 02:32 PM)
If the suggie is in the bonding pouch the whole day, wouldn't it pee and poo in it? then if so, wouldn't it become very smelly? At least I know if I should bring wet wipes around.
*

When they're young, they still haven't learn to poo and pee properly, so they will poo and pee in the pouch when they're awake. Ofcourse they don't poo or pee during sleep, do you? tongue.gif

However, as they grow, they will learn not to poo or pee in the pouch because they know not to mess their sleeping place wink.gif

If you wake them up and put them on your shoulder per say, they will poo and pee wherever they like, so having a wet tissue or just tissue is handy.

QUOTE(kikiz @ Sep 5 2007, 02:32 PM)
coz I plan to bring it to work with me if I get one, afraid that it might get restless in the pouch. I know that they are nocturnal animals, thus thinking of getting a flexarium and putting it at my office as I might work late hours and all.
*

Most people bring their suggies to work because they sleep during the day and does not bother you unless you wake them up.

I work late too sometimes, but I know my suggies won't wake up before 10-11pm if I don't bother them.

btw, have to consider your working place as well.
last time i work as pet & aquarium seller in a mall, so bringing them together when working is nothing serius, even if they are awaken. i can play with them (my suggie), and my boss is nothing because it will attract more people to the stall.
if you work in office, u may consider wether ur boss allow you to handle them when u are working, and also you collegue, wether they scare/dislike animal or not. etc....

Thanks for answering my questions KP. notworthy.gif
Easier for me to gauge if its possible for me to get a suggie, I don't want to get one and leave it all alone at home. Feels so bad if I have to shut them in the pouch whole day long if they are awake.

Btw, KP are you still using the Litter Star bedding? which bedding would you reccomend?

Any1 of you had made a leash for your suggie? Just wondering. Esp when they are not bonded to you, but you really want to let them out to run about. Cant possibly cage them for long.

dai86:
laugh.gif that part is alright. I have discussed with the boss (my hubby), he says if really want, get a small flexarium, and put it at my desk. I'm just worried about the smell, since its an air-con environment.
coz several pages back, KP was talking about the smell when they pee, and you know how the smell can be contained in the air-con room.

Normally they won't wake during the day if you don't wake them up.

I carry them in the pouch the whole day, no need flexarium or anything in the office.

Since they are used to it too, I never zip them up. I leave the pouch open and hang around my neck.

Yes, I am still using Litter Star. Any bedding or litter sand used in their cage must be separated with a mesh or something, don't let them be in contact with it.

NO LEASH. Leashes are not for suggies. Not around the neck, especially not around their body. They have patagium remember? Any time they make a leap, they will spread it and if you have a leash on, it will hurt them and even cause the patagium to tear.

That is why we advise people to bond with their suggie first before letting them out.

If you want to let them out while not bonded, ensure it is in a suggie proof room and preferable not a big room. Ensure all window and doors are closed too.

Normally, their pee doesn't smell much but the musking pee does. Just keep tissues within reach.

happy.gif Coz I saw online got people sell, so just wondering, since none of you had talk abt leash/harness before.
then i was wondering, about their patagium, whether it'll obstruct their movements, so that's why i asked.

Will be putting it in the room with me, but scared after too smelly, hubby might complain. but then we kept a dog in the room before so shld smell much better...lol . No worries, dog sleeps outside now. They had built an area for my dog to run around in. So the dog cant get my suggie(if I get it) unless I allow him to.

Sense_less:
You don't use a pouch anymore? then how they sleep in your baju? Pocket ar?

Well, if you use Litter Star and give a frequent wash of the cage/ Flexarium, you won't have any smell. I keep my gliders in my room. The smell is minimal since I clean it often.

Yah, leashes should not be used on gliders. Some people use them coz they think it is cute or it makes them feel more in control of the gliders. To avoid injuries, just use the bonding method.

Personally, I feel bonding inside your shirt is more effective than a pouch. Gliders love to sleep against your skin. They feel safer. For girls, easy lah... us ladies have an easier time letting our gliders bond inside our clothes... but guys either wear a singlet or use the pouch.

Letting your suggie bond using bra bonding or in shirt bonding is good because it can speed up the bonding process, however sometimes it can't be too long too for people who are working or on the move constantly because sometimes they can slip when they're sleeping and we need to adjust or check on them from time to time. It would be hard to do so in a meeting or while shopping right? Unless you don't mind people gawking at you while you put your hand inside your shirt.

Another thing, sometimes they sleep by gripping/hanging onto your bra, so pity them for having to hold on or hang to it while sleeping. That's why sometimes when they're too deep asleep, they'll start to loose grip slowly.

Having a pocket or a pouch helps to support them to sleep comfortably.

*And NO, I am not just saying this to promote my pouches, you can use your pocket or whatever that can support them to sleep. I am saying this through my experience and observation.*

CFP,

Or you can try wearing *ehem*... Wahahahaha laugh.gif tongue.gif

---

Hackerz,

The cage can be found at Pet Safari Ikano. Look for the RM100 one, cuz there also a similar one for less which is only half the height wink.gif

For adult gliders, they can only hang on... but for joeys.... hehehe... they can sit somewhere safely and snugged. But yah, the pouch is always safer. I only do bra bonding when I am at home, in public, pouch lah.

Ahh see, joeys can fit in the middle tongue.gif

Mebbe thru my experience all adults already, so pity them for having to hang on while sleeping. In the end they will always slip off.

Sometimes Iggy still tries to squeeze in or other times I'll be having extra bumps, thus I don't do it in public or my office...

Hun, what brand of fruit juices do you use?

I bought one for Iggy, err, don't remember the brand, but no added sugar or preservatives. However, it say contains 99% natural fruit juice... Do we have any 100% ones here?

Hahaa... I did it once in Public before with Kiah.... was at Secret Recipe, gave a shock to the waitress and it was weird coz my friends wanted to touch her but ended up touching me LOL.

Fruit juice, well.... it is hard to find 100%. Just make sure no added sugar or preservatives. I use Yeos and Just Juice. Ceres cloudy apple is really nice. You can also try Marigold. Make sure don't use Peel Fresh lah coz that is just sugar water hahaha.

Yeah, you even did that in front of your house remember? Lucky my husband was in the car tongue.gif

Nope, I don't use Peel Fresh, the brand is not a commercial one and cost like RM1.90 for one small drinking size box... Nanti I check back the brand.

Iggy has been hissing a bit during pee, so I'm trying the apple juice and see.

thanks for the info.
The moment hubby heard about them being in the bra, he vehemently rejected the idea of having a suggie without a pouch! I think he is jealous of all suggies right now.

OooO i didn't know Peel Fresh is just sugar water.

Hey KP, saw ur sales thread on the sets you made for suggies, they are really really nice!~

CFP - GF's, wives etc can be very expensive so what you could do is buy a training bra to "bra bond" with your gliders That way you may attract some ladies that are wondering what you have under your shirt !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Sugar Glider owners,

I would like to show you guys what I saw today at Pets Wonderland MIDVALLEY.... We must boycott the shop! Do something about it! Look at how they treat gliders? I was so pissed that I took away one of their potential customers and convinced him to get from me instead....

I am just deeply sadden and shocked at how they can let their customers know this:

"You can pay deposit of Rm200 first and pay the rest next day to collect. Sugar gliders are easy pets. Babies are easier to keep while adults bite. Feed fruits, mealworms and dry catfood. Keep in a small bird cage or hamster cage. Put on wood shavings..... " The conversation went on but I didn't listen much coz I was eaves dropping.... anyway, I hope pictures can say a thousand words....

user posted image
I thought it was an empty box... but upon close inspection.....

user posted image
There is a joey! Crammed in the corner..... No hide box??? No pouch??? Just newspaper??? Pity....

user posted image

Poor glider is hiding from the light. Curled up tightly in a ball in a dirty hide box that has no roof.

user posted image
Glider at the back corner.... it is so tired and stressed that it is trying to hide away from everyone. But a transparent hamster house? That is crazy....

user posted image
A really under age joey!!!! Look at how it is trying to sleep! This staff was walking around, picking it up and showing to people.... say that this is the right age for a baby. Joeys are easy to care.... blah blah.

Are you sure he will be able to attract ladies while wearing a bra????????? I think he'll be attracting males more. ohmy.gif

crazymouse:
oh no!~Its really sad!~ Sometimes I wish someone could just kidnap them and put them into safer homes.
Sometimes seeing them how they treat animals in the pet shop, make me feel like just getting them and bringing them away from that place. But then the pet shop still earn, so they probably wouldn't even bother. mad.gif
