hi~ I'm new in this forum :3

Just got a sugar glider of my own. A male. I named him Wasabi.

I think I know another girl in this forum. Don't know her nick tho. ^^;

Uh, question. My Wasabi, although eats from my hand and seems to like it when I rub him, crabs alot when I move my hands around him. Like, lets say I'm feeding him, then I remove my hand (very slowly, of course), he crabs like no tomorrow. is this normal?

And also, he seems to like tasting my nails. It doesn't hurt yet, but I'm worried when he grows up and keeps the habit, I'll end up with really bad looking fingers. What do I do?

Shurie's still too tiny, she rather use it as a little room for her to play hide and seek instead. xD
Maybe I should let sense_less try it on Wasabi one day. biggrin.gif

Ahaha maybe >.-

Added on June 11, 2007, 11:06 amwasabi actually bites UNDER my nail, like he thinks its a nut or something and he wants to crack it open.

Right now, I put food in wasabi's cage once a day. I put fresh fruits (apple/lai) and also boiled egg white. Anything i can add/improve?

___

Wasabi grew a lot these past 2 weeks. I'm surprised ^^;; And he is a good boy. Eats the egg white like I told him to ^^ *happy* Not fussy at all.

I compared my wasabi with snow's, and my wasabi looks much smaller than shurei. And I read that shurei wont take mealworms, so I just assume that wasabi is too young for it lah.

Or should I just try anyway?

And 40%? I should check it out ^^

Wasabi eats worms! wasabi eats the worms!

I don't know why but I'm so happyyyyyyyyyyy ^^ rclxms.gif rclxm9.gif rclxms.gif

Ahaha. I think he gobble like 12 down. He eats really fast too. And then he sniff around some more for more worms. But he wont lick my fingers anymore. efore he taste me a lot, last night he didnt. does this have anything to do with the worms?

Okay, so now my wasabi don't mind it when I touch him. Before he crabs at the slightest movement, but now it's better. A bit scared when I angkat him, but he didn't attack. I just want to know, is this the best stage for me to put him on my body? You know, to familiarize him with my body, bond body and soul kind of thing?

Let me know k ^^

p/s- snow- PS was fun wink.gif

Great!

Actually, when you first got him, you should already intro him to your smell and if you have a bonding pouch, you can start carrying him around to familiarize with your smell and body movements smile.gif

The sooner, the better biggrin.gif

Oh, I have pouch oredi ^^. Well, borrowing snow's one at the moment, and the post laju one should arrive any day now..

No, I mean, when can I put him on my body? Right now if I put him on my lap he still crabs. should I just ignore and see how or should I use different tactic?

p/s- Wasabi loves the worms too much la. This morning I catch him sniffing around and nibbling at the worm's skins. aiyah... I want to give him more, but cannot too much rite?

Just want to say thanks to KP for the pouch, it arrived already and wasabi is currently sleeping soundly inside it tongue.gif

And thanks also to Hun because of the mix. Snow passed it to me and wasabi loves it a lot. Now he always come to sniff my finger even tho its not mealtime haha ^^

And thankies to snow for brainwashing me with this snuggie madness lol ^____^

Btw, I read the earlier posts, and someone said about an OOP joey being as big as Shurie?? My wasabi is so small, and it's already 4 months old. Snow can vouch me on that, my wasabi is smaller than shurie even tho he's a male.

Should I blame the breeder who sold him to me or what? I know before he used to feed wasabi only apple, bread, and cat food.

I wanted to ask this for a long time. What makes sugar gliders stress out and die exactly? Because, like snow, I bring my sg to college, and of course my friends make a fuss about it and wants to see it and all lah.

Question 2- now everyday I put wasabi on my body, let him travel a bit up down up down. How long should this be? Wasabi is still not fully bonded so he tends to want to go back to his cage. I'm worried if I do it for too long there will be negative effects, stress or whatnot.

Q3- Wasabi developed a yellowish tinge on his belly lah. And he was so white before too sweat.gif Is it because of his diet or what? Foods I gave: mealworms, apple, lai, watermelon (once), grapes (once), hun's mix.

The yellowish tinge is his scent marking. Male suggies has scent glands on their chest, forehead (thus the 'botak' eventually) and anus. No worries on that, it's normal.

Is there any way to reverse the yellow?

It's been a while.

Wasabi and I now bonds really well. he doesn't crab anymore when i angkat him, which is a huge step. At night I lepas him in my room. Last night I caught him sniffing and playing in my hair while I was asleep. So cute!

Wasabi have a problem, tho. He smells quite a bit. Its not particularly the 'male' scent, I think it's more to his habit of pooping inside his pouch, even when the pouch is in his cage and he can simply go out. How do I stop him from pooping in his pouch? Very hard la for me to basuh pouch everyday..

I tried to sponge-bath him this morning, but he seems to hate it and keeps running away.

Just so you know, I try to keep his diet properly. Everyday I gave him mealworms, fresh fruits and huns mix. There's always food leftover, so I assume he's eating plenty.

I'm sorry about the testicles. I hope it will be fine soon..

I have my own dilemma, tho. I lost Wasabi. Well, not lost exactly lah. He's somewhere in my room, but I dont know where. He was playing as usual and I was kemas-ing my room, and before I know it he was nowhere. I kemas last night, and terus go to sleep. I havent seen him until today.

I tried searching for him, but I cant find him. I'm not that worried coz I heard him sneeze earlier, but I'm afraid he would get stuck somewhere. Today he still hasnt eaten.

But also I read posts of 'naughty' snuggies, who sorok and owners cannot find. I hope I'll find him soon. I havent seen him in 20 hours and I'm having snuggie withdrawals. I think about him all the time, and it's weird not having him on my body in the daytime. wub.gif

Why did you let your glider roam without firstly developing a close bond with it? You should not let a glider out that is still not bonded to you yet. Sometimes they won't come out at all.... you better find Wasabi soon. Joeys cannot stand long without water and food.... they become dehydrated very fast.

First, I shud say that I found him, safe and sound. He was curled inside my jewelry box! I didnt even think he can fit inside there, but there you go ^^

Alright, noted, I shouldnt have let him roam on his own, but I dont have a big cage for him yet (still kumpul money to buy), and I feel sorry for him to be in a small cage (size like the average hamster cage). I've been letting him out at night and in the mornings he always go back to his pouch, so I didnt think much of it.

I will be more careful, I promise!

Okay, I'm guilty as charged. The seller gave me Wasabi in the cage. He said 'it's ok' for sugar gliders.

Still no money. Planning to build my own cage. I heard that you guys discussed how to make diy snuggie cage in this post. can someone tell me what page it is? I'll make it as soon as possible.

Rust ka.. hmm.. I'll make another cage soon lah. Planning to get another sg for wasabi anyway, need 2 cages at first rite? ^^

Right now I'm seriously suspecting that Wasabi's dealer lied to me about wasabi's age. I got him on 29 may, and he said he was 3 and a half months. Right now he should be close to 5 months, but he;s still way too small and no bald patch whatsoever.

Wasabi barked last night. So, so cute ^^

Added on July 7, 2007, 4:23 pmIs the trader billygoatz in garage sale a good place to buy sg?
