Hi all..
Just wanna ask something..
If I buy handphone accessories will it be tax?
The price will be more than rm1000..

And lastly, what does the EMS mean? Is it safe to use it?
What the best method to use for shipping when we want to buy something from China?

Because this is first time I buying from China.. sweat.gif

just back from cargo village today.

doh.gif some dumbass from UPS who don use his brain to think make me so damn busy.

first, i already told him not to do the clearance on behalf of me,i'll do it myself if there's any *gangguan*

he clear it for me, genius, and they paid the tax too.

secondly, i already give him the tariff code, yet he didnt put it in

then the kastam put my item as plastic and 20% + 10% tax

lastly, even the runner is smarter than that agent who rank higher than them.

another malay agent (lady) shake her head when she know that fella declare without asking me, the runner (indian) also shake head, most of the warehouse staff, also shake head

if you going to use UPS, pm me n ask for that agent name, don't use him, you'll die from puking bloods out.

anyway i end up talking to the penolong for half hour, lucky i got a nice penolong who have fun with my camera i bring along and let me go without any hassle.

My suggestion of going to cargo village is :

1) take bus to LCCT, ask driver drop u near the RHB bank (after round-a-bout first traffic light go down from the bus it'll be on your left)

2) the FCZ pass office is above the RHB (Yes they move from the toll-a-like entrance to there) get your pass done, and you're good to go. you'll need your courier company fax them the permohonan letter for daily visitor pass.

3) phone your person in charge and ask them bring related document out / bring your own copy and ask them carry your parcel out.

4) go lvl 3, kedai EDI and get ur customs clearance, pay up and go ground floor

5) here is the best part, use your brain think before talk and you'll free from hassle.

6) get the stuff, walk go lcct and take bus back.

i drove today by the way, and my agent is SO SMART he refused to give me my related document in the customs building, so i have to drive in to UPS office in FCZ, shouted and argue with him (i think he'll get *pujian* from his boss soon) and get my related document.

my total spending today:

RM10 for daily pass
RM22.25 for customs letter
RM40 for fuel
total rm72.25

lucky i drive, if i take bus go i'll die of walking (from my previous experience working in kerry logistic, i already knew that place is damn fking big)

things you need aware of:
1) if you going into FCZ or customs building, wear collar shirt, long pants and shoe. don act smart and wear t-shirt,short pants or slipper, you'll be lucky if anyone entertain you
2) don wear sunglasses, bling bling etc. the dude next to me wear sunglasses and the customs officer treat him like shit, when my turn the same officer i got no prob and he say "orng tadi tu, kaya lah dia apasal takut cukai tu, kan pakai cermin hitam depan saya" ------> moral of the story, be low profile lol.
3) rub their ball, make them feel good and you're trouble free rolleyes.gif

anyway i saved up 1.5K of tax. icon_rolleyes.gif

I've got quite a lot of parcel which value is stated clearly and not more than RM500 still kena tahan.
Let's see how's your next parcel. smile.gif

My 3rd parcel did not get tahan by the kastam. flex.gif
I think because I change my location so I I can conclude now that the kastam of your location plays a big role in determining whether the parcel pass or should be stopped for further inspection.

By the way, if kastam didn't tahan the parcel, it can arrive from Hong Kong to me in 3 days only using EMS service. thumbup.gif

my experience is that courier guy (Fedex or UPS) will clear items with tax below rm300, no matter the tariff code is correct or wrong.
so you just pray the custom officer do the right job.

I got computer items classified as "particle accelerator" and tax 10%

In my case when importing bulk dresses from Thailand: NO

I had to call the supplier and do the running around to find out that the shipment is stuck at the custom for failing to declare the duty.

This is Malaysia folks, this is not Singapore. The civil servants are not as efficient. Do take note.

Hi all pros,

I have recently bought a GARMIN GPS from US. My parcel is now hold in Butterworth Kastam.

Please help me on a few questions below.

1. The collect letter did not ask me for an AP. Do i still have to apply for the AP?

2. Usually how much will they charge me even if i ask the seller to put it as a gift?

Thanks smile.gif

your address location plays a part too.
my address is at tanjong malim, and all three times the parcel got tahan by ipoh kastam.
once i sent the same parcel back to my hometown, it reached me just in three days from hong kong.

not la...it's well known that ipoh kastam very strict. so avoid any address in perak if you can.
my next shipment will go back to my hometown (perlis) and then only resend to me from there using pos laju.
