its all in the value and item code... giving the right code will speed up item if its not meant to be taxed, plus correct item code will reduce tax in some cases. Ask your sender to put correct malaysia custom declaration code (they dont know the code, you should know before hand).. for items that will be tax no matter what.. well thats up to your imagination..

They will ask you to prove the real value of the items. If it's less than RM500 then it's highly unlikely to get tax.

Hi All

As i use whole day to read overall about duty and tax...i still have few question on COSMETIC.

1. I'm going to buy bulk of cosmetic from overseas, so for more safety way to avoid detain by pharmacy...should i get license? (not shop but sell via online)

2. If yes, how can i get the license?

Really hope someone can let me know the procedures....

thank you so much~~

Query- Value less than RM500 not taxable? Is it apply to all goods? What happen if custom find that the real value is much more higher than what we quote to them?? Normally how they check?

yes it applies to personal items.

they have their own way of calculating the value of the items that pass thru them, so it's not so easy to try to cheat them.
they have after all been doing this everyday for so many years.
so unless u're very creative, i'd play safe smile.gif

Just go and see them..bring along invoice of the price given to you by supplier ( in case the supplier did not put it in the parcel)

becareful..sometimes you are trap..your supplier put invoice in it stating "a price" and you bring another invoice stating different price... sad.gif

But if your goods total less than RM500,no tax will be charged.

Yes, will see them tomorrow. The total amount is less than RM500 (About RM200) but why they want to retain it and don't want to release it and require me to go since the items are mouse, keyboard, VGA cable only and all are with 1 quantity only.

It was held by custom yesterday but I only see the update now:

10-Nov-2009 10:41 Item held by custom for inspection.
High - value goods

Damn... USD57 is considered as high value? The supplier did attach the invoice la...

The poslaju asked me go there personally.... i thought they will release after inspect or I should go there?

You have to collect your item from the kastam.
If not, give them a call and they will send the item to the nearest pos office for you to collect. But you have to pay them for the pos laju delivery charges.

The item is with my local custom office. The problem is it is held by custom. How could I call them to send to nearest pos office to collect since I have called pos office but they asked me to go there. rclxub.gif
