Yes, will see them tomorrow. The total amount is less than RM500 (About RM200) but why they want to retain it and don't want to release it and require me to go since the items are mouse, keyboard, VGA cable only and all are with 1 quantity only.

It was held by custom yesterday but I only see the update now:

10-Nov-2009  10:41  Item held by custom for inspection.
High - value goods

Damn... USD57 is considered as high value? The supplier did attach the invoice la...

The poslaju asked me go there personally.... i thought they will release after inspect or I should go there?
*
Case was settled after went there, inspecting the goods by officer and waited to bring in to let valuer officer to check in computer system.

No tax and took back.

Wasted 1 hour there.

I am wondering that every package that couriered from overseas must be retained by custom? Or they see the declaration form as electronic products and they will retain it?

It's random. But kastam in ipoh willl open each and every parcel to check. They are too free over there.
KL or Butterworth ones depends on luck sometimes.

according to the law, personal items of less than rm500 cannot be taxed.
so make sure u know your rights.
but do be careful because the customs will use their own exchange rate when calculating.
so to be safe, keep it slightly less than rm480.

for your case, i'm not sure whether your item can be tax free.
there are some items that arent taxable no matter what the amount i think.
that u have to check with the customs.
safest way to play it would be to check with them, or split your shipments into two.

The seller advises me to use EMS and it will not be problem when come to custom.. but if DHL or UPS, he is unsure... I wonder how true is true.

The strange thing is, if by UPS or DHL, the freight fee is more cheaper and faster to arrive. But if using EMS, it is slow and expensive.

Why and why?

tax free item must be clearly state according to customs list.. anything not clearly state will get "tahan" because of "high value"
and declaration form must be filled at the klia pos & kurier, which pos malaysia will charge you for preparing the form for you.
Around RM18 i think.
Goodluck

*Ive collected my range rover headlights from japan* got them for RM175.. kekeke but postage kills (14kg).. item was over slighly RM500 and got "tahan" and tax for RM86!* plus pos fee RM18...

I have this item posted from US in early Oct, but it hasn't reached me yet. From the info that I got from the seller, my item is at stuck at customs. But I have yet to receive any letter from customs. Item is worth USD81.

The electronic receipt sent did not state my house or street address(seller probably forgot to write it or they don't state it in the receipt?) and there is no tracking number stated either. Seller has not responded since emailing the receipt.

It was shipped via Priority International. Item may or may not be insured(Seller ignored query regarding this too, I asked to insure it).
Does Priority International have a tracking number? Or is it worth the effort if I just call the customs with only my name to "track" it?

1) They will notify you through letter.
2) 10% sales tax.

Lately many shipments from US are being held by US customs.
USPS Priority Mail can be tracked at http://www.usps.com/

What is the item? It won't be taxed if the item is non-taxable.
If it's taxable, you have to pay the tax. Taxable amount is based on the declared item value (or invoice) + shipping fee + insurance.

I have no tracking number.
Do the customs keep track of recipient's names if there is no tracking number?

Oh yes, you can do that if the seller is willing to play a part in providing fake invoice too. tongue.gif

I did that with my epikcase bulk. All items worth more than RM500.
7 times parcels being send to me from hong kong.
6 times stop by the kastam, 5 times get away without tax, remaining one time got tax RM100+.

I guess also depending on the personnel / officer that handle your parcel.
