sometimes no skull even and the monster just suddenly die (maybe bug?). but the heartbeat almost like flatlining. then normally almost dead. then i will trap it.

you'll only see skull when you've fully researched it

usual indication of monster health is the dragon pods/scatter pod/whatever pod they dropped
1st drop is usually at 50% health
2nd drop is at 25% health, that's the capture threshold, but not 100% for successful catch
skull is almost 100% successful catch

of cos, Xeno is an exception, it's dropping those pod everywhere

They will drop red dragon pod at 30% and 20%. When u see dragon pod dropped by them, you can capture them already. Elder cannot be captured.

I got one thing need to remind everybody who want to attack xenojiiva. When you arrive to the camp, you should pick up the stone first before you head inside to attack xenojiiva.

Everytime I join SOS, nobody care about me. They just know how waste their time to hit it. There have 4 pillars above there, we need to first lure it to under that 4 pillars then use your stone to shoot that pillars. One pillar give xenojiiva 1700+ damage, so 4 pillars total 6800+ damage.

Just directly lure it to the pillars, don't waste your potions and ammo.

Hmmm...I didn't know the pod droppings are like an indicator too. My personal observation:

100% - 70% HP: Whack like no tomorrow.
30% - 69% HP: Whack like usual but be more careful as they tend to be more aggressive.
29% - 5% HP: They'll retreat (by limping + fly away) to their nest to sleep. Usually I whack 2 to 3 combos and it's erm...electric trap and tranq smoke (2x).

I'm well in to the 80 hours++ zone but still HR8 or HR9. Lulz! *THIS IS BULLSHIT!

Hi,I have few question to ask

1.How hard to get Rathian Spike?
2.Should i hunt parts that i need in expedition or quest ?
3.How to increase research level for monster ? sometimes after quest its show that my research level increase but when i open the hunters info ,it do not have any changes ?
i know for a fact that when the research level increase,you can see with part of monster is breakable and weapon that suitable like the image below

ah. finally finished the story mode. forgot how many hours 60+ i guess. using aloy HR armour LOL. quite good to save resources and duits. gonna start farming to get better sets

1. u can get rathian spike by breaking the back of it's body.

2. Investigation quest give u more rewards so go for that.

3.U can increase the research level of the monster by constantly picking up the tracks of the monster and also breaking the parts of the monster. Setting traps or doing environmental traps can also increases the research level.

The change is not obvious, but u can see what kind of change u got after level up by going to the monster guy npc there and choose special investigation, it will tell u what changes u have after you level up the monster research level. Never ever skip a monster track when u are low level/low rank.

So investigations do give you more rewards? I always wonder what they are for. Hehe.
