QUOTE(blacktubi @ Dec 28 2017, 10:41 AM) I prefer a router + powerline extender combo. It is the most cost effective and able to deliver better performance that a mesh network config. It works really well for Malaysian houses with reinforced concrete wall. AC1900 is the best 2 years ago but now we are already on AC3150 with Wireless AC Wave 2 MU-MIMO. Go for the C3150 V2, a lot of people use that model and it's really good. Must cheaper than other brands as well. Powerline or wifi range extender?

QUOTE(barney @ Dec 28 2017, 11:22 AM) anyone using the default tm given tp link archer c1200 wifi router and having problems? I am facing a lot of issues with it. It will hang by its own within 24-48 hours and a reboot is needed. Now i am facing another issue where like with in 12 hours after rebooting, some of my devices that was disconnected from the wifi will not be able to connect back to the wifi. those that are already attached still can use. tm has already changed to the same model but problem still persist. I am thinking to change AU firmware Archer C1200(EU)_V1_170706 as someone in the unifi thread said can use. http://www.tp-link.com.au/download/Archer-...1.html#FirmwareThis is my current firmware which is a tm default firmware. 1.0.0 Build 20170905 rel.41738 (EU) Mine is the v1 model. Anyone has upgraded it without any issues? As a quick fix, you can get a SUM Digital Timer to daily off the router at one time and on it back at another time. Even if the router is functioning well, I use it to let my router have some rest once per week too. The timer is very flexible to have up 10 sets of on/off timing which can be in minutes, hours, days or weekdays.

True but i am using unifi less than 1 month only and every 1-2 days sure give me this problem no fail. this device cant be that "lousy" right that need to reboot 24 hours. QUOTE(noobandroid @ Dec 27 2017, 09:11 PM) archer c5 TM edition is there any other way to get the speed upstairs while the router at ground floor? if hardwire will need to redo the whole house network wires which will take something around 20-30 meters maybe to one PC just in case minor details missed, it's a double storey semi-D house, wifi N @ -70 dBm, AC @ -80 dBm could get a stronger router but on wifi, doesnt that cause lag in games? I got same issue! Got a Tp extender , it show full bar on my iPad but actually the speed can say close to turtle!

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Dec 28 2017, 03:14 PM) Long term solution is changing that damn router to something else. yes but i have friends using the same exact model. they do not face the problem i am facing. if this model is the problem, then tm would have got bombarded with all the calls that this wireless is rubbish, but that is not the case. if this model is giving problems to all new houses , i do not think tm would even deploy this model at all. the problem that i am facing is a very odd one where every 12hours to 48 sure will break. people may complain that wifi signal weak or sometimes will hang after a few weeks on non stop running but mine is a whole new funny problem...which i cannot accept it is that lousy. I just got a very old riger RG4332 wifi router from my friend who replaced it way back in 2013. he said that is a no good wifi also but at least you dont need to reboot after a week. i am testing this for 2-3 days to see how it will perform now. this should conclude it is a wifi prob or i do not know what might come up This post has been edited by barney: Dec 28 2017, 03:30 PM

testing my AV500 on 1 Gbps lease line at office what is the purpose of having 500 mbps connection from homeplug 1 to homeplug 2 when the actual LAN port is only 100 mbps? Attached thumbnail(s)

The 500Mbps is just a number, the maximum throughput a homeplug can reach. However, real life is more complicated with electrical noise, line quality, and other interference, so a homeplug rarely reach full throughput. See here: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/networks/po...it-versus-wi-fiyeah I know, but does not make sense when you have a theoretical speed at 500 Mbps but the end port (LAN) is only 100 mbps. should be gigabit instead. If you checked the homeplug line is exceed already 300 mbps. due to LAN port restriction, I left with 94 mbps++

Is 220Mbps the link speed between two power line device (adaptor at downstair and extender at upstair). I used to get around 78Mbps to 114Mbps before this when using Airport Express on upstair to extend the wifi network.

Don't worry too much about the numbers. Are you getting the speed that you want from the powerline? If you are, it is all good.

[quote=SilentVampire,Dec 28 2017, 01:48 PM] He meant powerline, not WiFi extender. [/quote What is the AC pasthrough in powerline? Will it work with three phase? I experienced previous powerline before and it is super unstable. Pretty sure it was the old wiring problem though. xD

It just meant that there is a connection to the socket at the front of the powerline so you don't waste a wall socket. No, it won't really work well with three phase, but you never know until you test it at your place.

Can you suggest TPLink model can replace this modem? Thanks 🙂 Newer routers from TP Link that support VDSL have not been released in Malaysia yet. For now, you have to either configure the modem router that you have to be a bridge/modem only for another router or buy two D Link routers that can support VDSL. See here for these two models: 1) http://www.lazada.com.my/d-link-ac1200-2x9...82d7WuCVf0&mp=12) http://www.lazada.com.my/latest-d-link-3x9...82d7ahD03R&mp=1
