There you go. Any non-PTPTN payment will flag in CCRIS and it makes credit card applications almost not possible.

Hi guys, I got a few questions to ask. So I now got one hong leong gsc credit card with 4k debt including two easy payment plans on it which have another 6 months repayment. I was thinking of balance transfer to Maybank.

My questions are,
-Can you transfer over the easy payment plans as well? Or will it stick with the HLB credit card and only transfer rest of the balance over?

-does balance transfer affect my credit rating?
*
no answer for this?

You can just BT 4k and let them deduct from your BT overpayment every month.

Or if you want to cancel your HLB card then you need to cancel the easy payment plan that might incur a penalty so it's better that you check with them first.

MBB BT doesn't required statement so you can BT any available credit you have.

No.

You are just transferring your debt (RM4K) from one bank to another bank.

At the end of the day your debt is still at RM4k.

From the view on security of the card.
The CVV pin behind the card is visible to anyone who hold the card, e.g. the waiter, cashier, etc.

Let's think about a scenario here.
You went to a fancy restaurant, waiter take your card to the cashier, paid the less than RM250 bill using contactless feature.
Couple of months later, suddenly your card was charged with several thousands on foreign website, which requires only name, card number and cvv. No TAC/OTP sms required.
You have no idea where your card info was stolen as you use the card in many places in past 2 months.

The CVV could be the weak link here.
Is there any T&C that says you cannot scrape off the CVV?
Or has anyone done it?

Not that I'm aware of. Well, I'm not too worried about this unless you are so unlucky that targeted by the merchant. Usually I will be around when they perform PayWave, I don't allow any merchant to use PayWave without my permission. For PIN & Pay, obviously I have to be present to input PIN.

HLB MACH is fine with this if it accepts Visa. If in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai, usually no issue to accept overseas cards. But smaller cities, the tendency to accept overseas cards is very low.

true. my brother's credit card was declined because the hotel they stay doesn't "open up their card system to accept foreign cards“
ended up, our chinese relative paid with Alipay. So embarassing.

I wonder when are we going to have Alipay accounts in Malaysia.

My friend thought so too.
Until one day, the iTunes transactions suddenly pops up. Around RM2K.
Fortunately the bank is willing to waive all charges and interest.
However, it took a couple of months and many phone calls/emails.

It's like when you saw someone in car accident, and you will think, "That won't happen to me".
Until one day...

Just use alexwsk recommendation as a precaution. cool2.gif

We already have AliPay here anyway.
Mine is China AliPay account, I haven't tried using it here but in China, yes.

Well, I have too many cards to jot down one by one CVV and keep in safe. Let's see, maybe I will learn my lesson if that happens to me. laugh.gif
Been using CC since I was 18 years old, that's more than a decade ago, still surviving.

China prefers AliPay/WeChat payment or cash. Credit card, so so only unless it is UnionPay branded.
You can open a bank account in ICBC/BoC for UnionPay card, I have ICBC debit card to be used in China. smile.gif

May i know which bank offers the lowest exchange rate and lowest conversion/admin charges for overseas transaction?
I remebered that i used mbb cc in hong kong few years ago without extra charges apart from exchange conversion.
Just called up mbb today, and was informed the conversion charges for visa/master is about 2.25% and amex 2.5%.
Could anyone shed some light?

Thanks
