I have just received the offer from Petronas for a position of Senior Geoscientist as direct hire staff for 2 years. During interview, HR said contract staff is not entitled for any form of bonus.

Based on my calculation, the increment they offered is 7% of my current salary (if factor in 2 months bonus; which I usually will get). I complained and asked for revision, and they said I cannot factor in my bonus to calculate my expected salary because Petronas will also give bonus to contract staff but based on Company's discretion.

I read in previous post and I understand if they say bonus payout is based on Company's discretion means it is not going to happen. Anyone has any experience on this matter?

Last year I was at the breaking point and wanted to leave this company.. It was a push factor actually. Cannot tolerate the 'yes boss' environment anymore. But I was never serious in finding new jobs.. I have been floating my CVs on various employment website since last year. This year, the environment is getting worse with the recent promotions of certain GMs and SMs. I still persevere.

Suddenly, I was called for an interview and I said to myself well just give it a try, no pressure. Then, I got the offer. The offer is not really lucrative. It is almost similar to what I am getting yearly (inclusive of bonuses) albeit higher. Medical benefit cannot compete with PET of course. However, looking at the job description, it is something new and different from what I am doing now. Seems exciting as it will involve new technology selection, etc.

But do I leave because of my current environment or I just need to hang in there? Or do I take this new opportunity but loosing some of the perks now?

One of my senior colleague used to tell me that, if you leave because of the environment, you will somehow end up in almost similar environment elsewhere. U will get frustrated again..it would be a vicious cycle then.

I passed my SI and did my medical today. I'm a smoker and I've stated this fact in my medical declaration. I would really like to know whether this will effect my employment. The position offered to me is rotating engineer for flng in bintulu. Most likely that I will be working offshore.

Hi, I've just graduated on june 2013 and I applied for finance position at petronas. Terengganu boss called me last week n askd me whether im willing to work in Terengganu n its a contract basis. Does that means this is a direct hire? I've given her all my documents last Thursday and no news till now. Should I just wait longer or I should find other job as well?

I did it at prince court medical centre (panel for petronas).

I wonder whether the result of the medical checkup will be informed to the applicant or only to petronas. I was allowed to leave directly after the checkup and when I asked about the result, they said some results are not yet concluded. Can someone clarify to me whether I will know the result personally or not.

for Prince Court, mostly they will sent the result directly to Petronas. As for my case, I'm doing the check up at Pusrawi, and we need to hand delivered the result to Petronas. So, you can have a look on the result (curi curi tgk la).

For the candidate with office / offshore working environment, please beware on your cholesterol level (5.2 and below is the requirement to pass the test, otherwise you need to do the 2nd check up).

So when are you going to go to xxstan gohet gostan? Lucky you, just join Petronas already in pipeline for overseas posting. Some people had to wait for 5-6 years before they are identified. I hear those blue-eyed ladies there can melt heart one .... Cari satu laaaa

it is possible to change HR who incharge us during SI since there are no any updates made by the HR regarding job placement more than 1 month already.. called her and no answer...
