QUOTE(klein @ May 23 2013, 07:29 PM) probation is something everyone will go through, regardless of the companies they go to. some 3 months, some 6 months but there is a difference between being hired to fill a permanent position and being hired as a contract staff. Contact staff work for 1-2 years (as stated in their contract), and if their performance is satisfactory (depends on other reasons either), they might (or might not) be offered a permanent position. oh i see your point. i did my internship in PETRONAS before, mostly contract staffs are cleaner. so i guess when u get an offer for exec it's gonna be a permanent position?

owhh. last time even the guards in PETRONAS Research, the place where i did my internship are permanent. so the year where PETRONAS announces at least 5 months bonus (if i'm not mistaken), they got so excited because that applies to them as well even though they are just guards. lol

Hi all,
I have a question, I am a fresh grad in Mechanical Eng and was recently informed via email that I passed the SI interview held in washington DC back in mid March and they just needed a couple of my final transcripts "to assist us to process the application" as they quoted. I'm not familiar at all with the process and I doubt ill get a decent and fast response by emailing the HR manager. Does that mean I have to go for more interviews/processes or do I just patiently wait? Need some advice. Thanks!

It depends on your project and assignment, working in GTS is like a service providers to other OPUs, so you do need to travel to other OPUs from time to time to solve their problem and give them technical advise.

Hi,
i got call from HR Petronas last week asking me to come to SI on the very next day. But I ask to postpone and rearrange the date for SI on the first or second week of July due to my current job commitment. He said okay and will inform me once confirm. But since, the HR never call back to confirm on this.
Did I just blew my chance? As I heard that HR will not entertain candidates whose asking for rearrange date or something like that.

I experienced the similar situation last year. You can contact the hr via email. PM me for more details.

It really depends on the project that you are involved it so couldn't really confirm your question until you start your job. Nevertheless, just a hint for you, if you travel a lot, then you will earn a lot also. Hehe.

Do I need to go to the offshore often?
