QUOTE(goldezblack @ May 9 2013, 08:09 PM) hye guys.. i just recently report for duty at PETRONAS CARIGALI, KERTEH yesterday after attend PIPE & HSE training at KL for 3 weeks.. i was really suprise when they told me that my position will be as Production Supervisor which is regular offshore 2 weeks on & 2 weeks off. By the way, i'm fresh graduated in Electrical (Inst. & Control) Eng. What make me suprise is that usually they will only hire exp. people for offshore supervisor level job, but not this time huh? lucky for me i guest, because i will entitle for offshore allowance apart of my 4k monthly basic salary.. hi, congrats. normally your position will go on rotation, maybe after this you'll be the maintenance supervisor, atleast that is what i heard from the operations team. Just make sure you learn as much from the technician offshore, they have extensive experience offshore. Goodluck

Imagine you are in a queue. But I ain't sure whether or not it's first in first out. I have a strong feeling whenever there is a candidate under the same HR who did better than you, they will be put in that queue as well but could be in front of you. It sucks to know you're in a reserve list. I was once there too but thank god I had to wait only for 2 weeks. Patience is a virtue but it's a pain in the ass too. Do some sort of systematic follow up or in other words keep bugging them but don't over do it. I fear that they will get annoyed and that could hinder the process of you getting a job placement EDIT : Oh shoot, I just noticed you've been waiting for 6 months is that correct? I was told our SI result is only valid for 6 months then you gotta re-attend the SI. Correct me if I am wrong but has anyone else heard of this too? see you tmrw mate. will be in the same pipe session! QUOTE(mannquin @ May 5 2013, 04:07 PM) A quick update Got a call last thursday and a medical check up form sent to my email account. Booked an appointment with Prince Court. Went for a check up the next day at 9 in the morning. Got a call from the HR around 4 o'clock, went straight to KLCC to pick my offer letter and some other documents. Glad that finally I made it! Will be attending PIPE on the 16th, reporting in on the 30th. Damn it things were moving so fast. I didn't see all this coming. Both excited and nervous at the moment.

QUOTE(jackoz @ May 20 2013, 11:50 AM) does Petronas ICT (formerly iPerintis) share the same benefit & remuneration as Petronas now? From what I understand all new Petronas hires are contract before being converted to permanent, plus their benefits are significantly less. These include ICT and regular folks. FWIW I don't work in Petronas but I know someone who just started.

QUOTE(klein @ May 21 2013, 07:07 PM) well that is not totally wrong. when u get the offer to work in PERONAS, they give u sorta like training in which they call probation. the duration is 6 months and if PETRONAS finds that ur overall performance meet some sort of expectation after that period, only then they'll confirm ur position.

Contact staff work for 1-2 years (as stated in their contract), and if their performance is satisfactory (depends on other reasons either), they might (or might not) be offered a permanent position.

Petronas? Environment depends much on whos yur superior & section colleagues. Get shitty ones, feel like shit everyday.
True story. Still, good company as stepping stone for career. Plenty of tolerance to screw up and learn.
