SI is standard for everyone, whether engineer job, non-engineer job, or CA. I had my SI together with engineering and actuarial science students, while I was history student. We went through for same process regardless of our background. Maybe for others they will have further stages but at least we know SI is the same for everybody. Tell them what you want after the SI. I told them I want to get professional qualification so they offered me CA.

Effective from 1/1/2012, the industrial training allowance for PETRONAS sponsored students doing compulsory industrial training/internship in PETRONAS Group of Companies or any other local companies is increased to RM800 per month per student. The allowance of RM800 per month is subjected to condition that the host company did not pay any allowances to the student. For students receiving some allowances from Host Company, their entitlement will be limited to the difference.

This change will not affect other non-PETRONAS sponsored students doing industrial training/internship in PETRONAS Group of Companies.

Other terms and conditions of the industrial training/internship remain unchanged.

I think starting next year they will pay RM800 to all interns regardless PET sponsored students or not. This is what they say or at least they are working on it.

When I was doing intern with Carigali 18 years ago, they paid me 10 ringgit a day (not inclusive of weekend) and it took them 2 months to pay them after my internship was done. Nasiba baik the bas mini at that time was only 50 cents and the nasi ayam was 2.50, lepas la lunch ....

i think rm10 is worth it la based on present value. but now, if they pay at that amount, i guess no ppl will go there for intern.

I did my internship at Petronas from feb 2012 to june 2012 smile.gif I was lucky enough that Petronas revised the allowance (from rm500 to rm800) when I started my internship early this yr. you can visit this page http://www.discoverpetronas.com/internship...internship.aspx

best of luck smile.gif

sometimes u have to be far-sighted.. focusing on long term benefits - the opportunity to gain experience & network with the people inside, thus higher chance to secure a job there or within the same industry.. that way, benefits outweigh the costs
