let's say if u cancel the CR card but still hold other cards from cimb. then it won't be a "new to bank" cardholder anyway right?
the terms of the new cimb cr card really puts me off but i still hold their cimb preferred VI (very good for overseas lounge use around south east asia)
It is good for you, that CIMB Preferred Visa INFINITE suits you well.

For me, I only have CIMB Cash Rebate Card. With my meagre income, I am not eligible for Visa Signature card, what more Visa Infinite Card.

Do note that some banks will not consider former card holders "new-to-bank" anymore even after you have cancelled it for a while.
Yes, I recall during my online application for CIMB Cash Rebate Card, that CIMB considers "new-to-bank" cardholders who cancelled their credit cards, more than 2 years ago.
Anyhow, if ever I do apply for a new CIMB Credit Card in the future, getting better card sign-up benefits as a "new-to-bank" cardholder or not is not so important to me. What matters most is the cash back feature of the new credit card that suits my spending.
For now, I do not foresee that CIMB will provide cash back feature, that is worth our consideration.
