Then the customer will love to cancel.
Anyway, first time heard send 5 cards to customers.

I guess this customers income should be.... very value.. innocent.gif

Could be other considerations such as fixed deposit, savings, properties...etc.

Alright, you plan to keep your CIMB Cash Rebate card in the drawer for a year without using the card, and cancel your card one year after the first cancellation date. smile.gif

I remember one of your great advices, which is to cancel unattractive credit cards, so that we can become "new-to-bank" cardholders after 6 months, and enjoy better card sign-up benefits. So, I plan to cancel my CIMB Cash Rebate card, after my next statement date.
*
Do note that some banks will not consider former card holders "new-to-bank" anymore even after you have cancelled it for a while.

let's say if u cancel the CR card but still hold other cards from cimb. then it won't be a "new to bank" cardholder anyway right?
the terms of the new cimb cr card really puts me off but i still hold their cimb preferred VI (very good for overseas lounge use around south east asia)

It is good for you, that CIMB Preferred Visa INFINITE suits you well. smile.gif

For me, I only have CIMB Cash Rebate Card. With my meagre income, I am not eligible for Visa Signature card, what more Visa Infinite Card. sad.gif

Yes, I recall during my online application for CIMB Cash Rebate Card, that CIMB considers "new-to-bank" cardholders who cancelled their credit cards, more than 2 years ago.

Anyhow, if ever I do apply for a new CIMB Credit Card in the future, getting better card sign-up benefits as a "new-to-bank" cardholder or not is not so important to me. What matters most is the cash back feature of the new credit card that suits my spending.

For now, I do not foresee that CIMB will provide cash back feature, that is worth our consideration. bangwall.gif

i hate it when credit card sales guy proceed to apply additional cards without our consent just for their own benefit. I believe they get their commission based on the number of cards they manage to get the customer to apply.

this is just unethical in my opinion.

CIMB really p*ssed me off... When i saw my cash rebate, i immediately rang the CS and to my surprise the CS told me Wix.com RM427.63 and aliexpress RM34.04 was not deemed as "online transaction" set by the merchant? Wanted to lodge a complaint but CS said nothing can be done from CIMB. So, i quickly make the full payment and asked to terminate all my cards with CIMB mad.gif ranting.gif

2 actions for you:

1) terminate the cards ASAP, unless u want any of them. DO NOT LEAVE IT UNATTENDED/UNACTIVATED, or
2) if still want to penalise the bank/agent, report to BNM and cc the bank. for sure the bank will terminate the cards as well laugh.gif

quickly terminating the cards so that the agents cant get any commissions from all these cards. usually it takes 6 months for the cards to be active before they can get the commissions.

cimb's definition of "online" is very strict, need to adhere certain transaction parameters by each merchant (not controlled by us!). this t&c obfuscates end-users from determining which is eligible for online, or else. always hear users reporting not getting cb sweat.gif

other banks, e.g. PBB, are more relaxed. as long as "online" without card presence, then it's eligible for cb.

To enjoy cashback that I earned from purchasing this month, I'll have to wait until next month right?

So if I want to cancel my CR card I actually have to wait til the month after next month to clear my bills (nett CR) before I should cancel if I want to utilize the CR?

Dear lyn, mybe out of topic abit but need opinion & enlightment;

Does increase credit limit require check for ccris/ctos?
Always got call promotes for CashLite-Take portion of credit limit.
Reject their offer everytime, cuz last time apply failed. Ccris record no good.

Is wise to apply now? On the edge now..payin minimum also 5xx per mnth.
Plan to paid off total cc outstanding then saves from high interest + lower monthly commitment.
Also kept using cc as benefited from using at petronas (7% if balance 3k above)

Lets say my statement balance is 88.05.
And my cb for last statement is 25.48.
So the statement - cb is 62.57.
If I want to cancel the card today, should i just pay 62.57 or 88.05?
I'm getting confused

Since you are cancelling the card, then just pay the amount (after CB) and cancel it.
