2nd time happened to me today. My gps mode switched by itself to batt saving mode when I had selected high accuracy mode.

Mine is version 8.xx. GPS can log in, it's just the high accuracy setting keeps changing to batt saving mode.

Yes, this is my version.
Very embarrassed to report that the reason it defaulted to batt saving mode is because I did not switch on the GPS before going into Setting. Once I switched on GPS and then entered Setting, it remained at high accuracy. Haha.

Any particular reason to get the mtk variant instead of sd? Im trading my 3+64 mtk to 4+64 sd.. not much "performance" by mtk other than heating up lol.. I'd rather opt for a longer battery utilization than so called mtk deca core speed..

Of course, part of the reason is because of the cheap price on 64GB model.
I thought many problem should be fixed with latest update.

What is the popular custom firmware to go to, would like to get as close to vanilla android. Also, do custom firmware receive the security patches or better to just stick to plain MIUI for that?

frankly, i have setup 2 Redmi Note 3, 1 Redmi Note 4(MTK version), 1 Redmi Note 4 (SD version) within the last 3 months. All were without problem with GPS. All are working perfectly.

It is better to send it for warranty claim, and share with us your claim experience.
