how to play margin trading?

look for a broker that supports margin trading
but most of these brokers require you to already have holdings in cryptocurrencies
a few example would be:
bitfinex
poloniex
kraken

Hi guys. rclxm9.gif

Just started trading yesterday and made a teenee weenee profit. tongue.gif

Anyway, a curious thought crossed my mind.

I think this event is going to come (a few weeks, months, years, who knows) and I was wondering what did the stock market look like during a recession? confused.gif

How do you think a recession will affect the world of cryptocurrency? sweat.gif

What do you think, sifus? hmm.gif

transfer it from whatever account (exchange <default> or lending) to margin trading
you can trade up to 2.5x of the deposited amount if i'm not mistaken
the minimum you have to trade on margin trading is 0.02 btc, so 0.02000001 btc or smth like that sweat.gif
this goes for both long or short
and don't forget for margin trading, you'll be charged like 2% interest for the amounts you "borrowed" when u do margin trading bruce.gif
you can read more about margin trading here rclxms.gif

untouchable - Since you PMed me, thought I'd reply here for the benefit of those who might have the same questions.

Disclaimer: I am not interested in Tezos and will not be funding for their ICO.
The below post assumes that you have some experience dealing with Bitcoin/Ethereum/altcoins.

QUOTE
For ICOs what would be the mode of transaction to get the ICO? is it BTC? ETH? or can we use a currency for it (eg. USD, EURO etc.)?

It depends. Most accept Bitcoin/Ethereum, some accept altcoin/fiat. You'll need to check out their page or read/ask on one of their communication channels (usually Slack/Telegram).

QUOTE
What are your views on ICOs apart from Tezos. Appreciate your views on Tezos as well.

ICOs are a nice way to gain quick funding to launch innovations, not dissimilar to Kickstarter/Indiegogo. From an investment perspective, it is extremely risky - Just like how products on Kickstarter/Indiegogo may fail to be delivered on time/entirely fail. This space is unregulated at this time (and there are debates on both sides whether to this should be regulated), so be aware of the risks.

Study the whitepaper, the community, the developers. Know as much as possible about the project, and better still if you are actually familiar with it (so to see weak spots unaddressed via the whitepaper/by the devs). Invest only if you are comfortable, do not consider returns, and think of this as donations to young, brilliant minds to start up something which could potentially change the world for the better. That said, ICOs had historically seen decent returns, as this market is highly speculative.

ICOs do not necessarily guarantee portfolio returns - e.g. - The scenario where ether increased in price so much that the price of the tokens released by ICOs do not catch up. In that case it would just be better to hold ether for that duration.

Personally I allocate only a small portion of my cryptocurrencies in ICOs, and only put money into projects I personally am interested in.

ok both of you

am not master nor expert in margin trading at polo, just my experience : Dummy 0.000001 XRP for you

Attached Image

Price :
Amount :
Loan Rate :
Total :

So, you have this margin which either buy/sell

For buy, it means you are buying the trade to go "Long", which mean to go up above the price you lock in.
Whenever you place the trade, you could see amount as i put the screenshot.

So, the
Price : you choose to put what are the price you lock in,
Amount : is total how much you want to place the trade margin ( it will show you the total amount available for you to trade margin )
Loan rate : basically you are borrowing from other, you choose choose your own rate to offer, from 0.001 to even 100.00
Total : it will show you the total amount of margin you have place, which converted into btc unit.

For Sell, same principle as buy, but for sell means you are selling the trade to go "short" , which means to go down below the price you lock in.

Attached Image

Above is to show you, once you are lock in the margin trade, it will show you how much total of profit/loss.

You can see the unrealized Profit/Loss = which mean the amount of profit / loss before the lending fee.

You also can see the margin trade 20% - 40% = this is very important, in the event you are losing money, the amount of fund in your margin trade dropped to below 20%, all your trade will be automatically liquidated , which mean the Polo will do a Force sell your holding when your fund drop to 0%. You will receive notification email from Polo saying your fund currently only can hold another 20%, which ask you to top up fund, by transferring into margin call to support it ( if you believe you will bounce back else cut lose )

So remember, if you transfer 1 BTC to margin, you will have 2.5 BTC to trade in margin smile.gif

tips : for loan rate, you can check at the lending , see what are the offer most updated available by ppl, normally if you want your trade faster to be lock in, it will be 0.01% or 0.1% , but if you put 0.001% it will take some time...

So, this is just some dummy guide 0.000001 XRP for you all.

I have some stake in Mona.co which is still ongoing, albeit it now has a slightly lower reward bracket.
Looking at TenX and Bancor as well, since all these have practical uses for me.
