I just received offer letter but its not my first choice...
I am currently waiting for another offer from.mnc...
Lets say i work for 3 months++ with EP...can i switch to this new job if i get the offer?
Any issue on MOM side?
*
you are just like me but i am 5 month. Yup they will have some issue with MOM if you "lucky"
<less than 2 month mostly will reject. >half yr safer.
you and me are in grey area. I get my ep but definitely take way longer time to approve it.
Theoretically MOM SOP should approve your pass, but if you submit ep application again in such a short time, they may ask your employer to write a letter why insists to hire you.

If your job is not so ''professional" you will mostly get rejected. If you apply more 3- 5 times in such short period time do not think about it. This is the info I get from my senior, tat y i drag until around half yr just apply.

But for me I definitely do not want to go through it again. Kind of scary. ohmy.gif

Sorry then I'm in electrical field can't help much tongue.gif

Quite true. But see your salary requirement also. Down here I think manufacturing and semicon jobs quite much less d. Too high cost biggrin.gif If programming I think got better luck. Some of my friends doing quite well in programming field.
Oh ok, thanks for the tip
Any sifu around to help ?advice for a future electronic engineer going to SG make for a living ?

I am from electronic background. Degree from which country matter to MOM but not really matter to company ( at least from company that I interview ).

Cuz some MNC I interview ,
1) give me 1 hr to do the technical and programming test
2) give me a maker and ask me to explain my FYP, project that I done in detail like block diagram, reason you use tis components, schematic, software you used etc

They do not really look at the result ( but hr will look and collect probably for MOM) and they will more interested in you previous job izit fit what they want.

fresh & entry lvl (<5yrs) they are a bunch of ppl out ther esp from sg itself. Make sure you have strong technical (for engineer) to let them give you 2nd interview and finally offer.

I did have one friend worked for a semicon before. Earn bloody a lot from the overtime but no time to rest. Sometimes midnight work till 3-4 then 10am got meeting. Siao one... After OT he's getting like 5k+ for a fresh grad. He quitted just few months after that. Too pathetic. Never really bother to ask what he did when he was inside though.
*
It's true and OT money only good for junior. Once the base pay hits the ceiling and then the engr realizes his workload still requires him to work OT without additional pay bangwall.gif

No more 20%??

My previous interview offered 80% pay raise while I put in expected salary of 100% raise. Company policy cannot pay so big difference from previous salary but they need people that time so offered the 80% raise. Ding dong ding dong then took another better offer.

Omg imaging 5k become 10k. So much spare money suddenly lying around don't know what to use it for.

You doing well. I'm not so good.

Just got a call from recruiter for new opportunity.
When I said 20% as my expected salary she said it is too high for the market rate.
Now the market rate fall on 8-10%.
Hmm...
*
I don't believe there's such thing as standard market rate for job hopping increment. Salary is subject to a lot of factors like industry & function that you are in, supply & demand, urgency, years of experience, academic / professional qualification, company budget etc....There might be even non ethical factors that come into play (which we will never get to know) like your gender, race, nationality etc.

Throughout my career I've experienced pay cut & very high increment. After so many years of working, I now no longer settle for $$ alone, but look into other values like stability, job satisfaction, work life balance, boss relationship...
