QUOTE(WallChecker @ May 28 2017, 05:22 PM) Your comparison is incorrect and I can assure u that only very few MY fresh grad (not from overseas uni) earn 3k and above in SG. Mostly started with around 2k to 2.5k. Hi ,If u are trying to make comparison, u should also compare background of these grads. There are people that apply for 10 jobs and received 7-8 offers, and some applied 10 jobs maybe received 0-2 offers. does that mean UK degree in SG with 2yrs exp in factory as a technician can get around 3.8k ? (freshie in progress) but my UK degree is distance learning, how to count ? my degree is electrical and electronics , any hope to find a job with around 4k salary ? |

QUOTE(wen94qin @ Jun 5 2017, 12:01 AM) Hi sifu, Which field you planning to go into?any idea for electrical & electronics engineering ? have been working in penang for close 2 years and gettting a degree soon, any guide from all sifu around ? thank you You do know that 3E (E..E..E...) is a super broad field right? You can go electrical path or electronics path, do construction (residential/commercial electricity), panel/switch gear (manufacturing/project), HV distribution (Singapore power?), be electrical project engineer (in main con vs in electrical contractor), cross field into mechanical, go aviation (coz got electronics), do programming (coz 3E does learn some programming and usually good at logic thinking & debugging), semicon (manufacturing/design/product engineer) etc etc. Such a broad field. Where to start? QUOTE(wen94qin @ Jun 5 2017, 12:27 AM) Hi , Erm... Your UK degree is it washington accord compliant? Otherwise you might need to take additional half year course locally. Not so sure for SG but that's the case for Malaysia. If you go the electrical route, with UK degree you can't directly register with Malaysia's BEM & IEM. They don't recognise it.does that mean UK degree in SG with 2yrs exp in factory as a technician can get around 3.8k ? Just got a call from recruiter for new opportunity.
When I said 20% as my expected salary she said it is too high for the market rate. Now the market rate fall on 8-10%. Hmm... |

QUOTE(cikopek @ Jun 5 2017, 12:10 PM) I just received offer letter but its not my first choice... No problem with mom but not sure if you can explain it to the mnc company. They can apply ep for you even when you're still with previous company as long as you didn't officially work for both company during the same period of time. Your second choice can cancel your ep when you officially leave them. I am currently waiting for another offer from.mnc... Lets say i work for 3 months++ with EP...can i switch to this new job if i get the offer? Any issue on MOM side? I still think the problem will be with the mnc company. Since you applied as fresh but end up you started working before waiting for their offer. Not sure if they will still hire you when you reveal it to them. No harm to try though. Can give reason coz you need that income for your family. QUOTE(veger_leong @ Jun 5 2017, 01:38 PM) Same the head hunter said it is like 10+- only but if this is the case what's th3 motivation for hopping around No more 20%??Compare benefit, working hour, work load etc. Now I'm waiting another promotion to higher rank then probably gonna lookout for opportunities to jump ship. Working hour too long, certain period have to work 7 days a week, go home late everyday offer letter 5.30 never really 5.30. Work late but can't absent from morning as other parties work day hour only etc etc. 5.5 official workday, much less chance to make use of the weekend. Half day on Saturday normally end at 5-7pm just like normal workday. Expanded too fast also within the last 3 years of stay here. Benefits and bonus keep shrinking too. Overall salary package shrunken from previous year although got a pay raise. All and all... But still good promotion progress. Just move higher then go out and aim for higher position. Can demand higher pay also This post has been edited by IwanAGP: Jun 5 2017, 03:19 PM |

[/quote] For microelectronic field, Front End moves faster than Back End in term of career progression. This is due to high turnover rate as the working environment is much more stressful. Comparing to manufacturing in general, you will see your pay higher than low tech field but comparing to professional job market as a whole, manufacturing line is the lowest. Definitely able to earn enough for living but very very basic lifestyle. |

Sometimes midnight work till 3-4 then 10am got meeting. Siao one... After OT he's getting like 5k+ for a fresh grad. He quitted just few months after that. Too pathetic. Never really bother to ask what he did when he was inside though. |
