Hi guys. Is this a reasonable build and price? Or should i go for 1700x ( but overclocking 1700 should do the same perfomance )z

Multitasking alot? Monitor resolution?
If game priority drop to Ryzen 5 1600 , 8gb ram & cpu cooler. Get a GTX 1070. Overclocking cpu won't improve much on FPS in games. Ryzen 5 still capable with 6 core while ram & cpu cooler can add later which also don't improve much on FPS.

Yes. You also gain access to 8 cores later, while Intel you will probably stuck at 6 cores (Coffee Lake).

Is it not overkill for Normal user which only some do some video editing and Photoshop/illustrator to get Ryzen 1600?

Fellow sifus,
Probably getting my rig mid of next month, made some amendment and my build will be as follow :

Intel Core i7 7700K -
Gigabyte Z270-HD3 -
Corsair Liquid Cooler H60
G.SKill Aegis 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2400MHz RAM -
GTX 1080 card. (not sure which brand to get yet) -
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD -
WD Blue 1TB HDD -
EVGA SuperNova 550 G2 -
Tecware Alpha -
Monitor: Dell U2715H

Budget : <RM10k
Is there any way to further bring down the cost/improve? Usage mostly on gaming at 1440p ultra setting@60FPS and some beginner photoshop.
Would appreciate on suggestion of GTX1080 brand..
TQ

Wouldn't recommend SSD when your budget is low.

How about these?

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 - 1029
MSI A320M Grenade - 335
Corsair 8GB DDR4-2133 X1 - 260
MSI RX 570 4GB DDR5 Gaming X - 970
WD Blue (7200rpm only) or Seagate 1TB - 212
Corsair VS 550W - 248
Tecware F3 case - 124

RM3178 total (C-Zone prices)

Too much for topup?
How about these?

I don't own a Ryzen but that sounds like some typical pasar malam bullcrap.

On a side note, Ryzen isn't exactly 50% faster than an i5, it just having 50% more cores (and far more threads). If want compare performance, per core performance is more relevant, which I doubt Ryzen will be better than i5.
*
Dont listen to salesman. They are mostly dont know anything. Listen to people who actually owns it.

Again. Stability is not an issue.

Performance wise. Ryzen 5 1600 is slightly slower in some games, blows i5 away when it comes to heavy apps and some games.
