If you don't mind you can get G4560 + B250 mobo and 8GB DDR4. Slight improvement, but new parts.

Personal Pick
Intel G4560 = RM 241
ASROCK B250 Pro4 MOTHERBOARD = RM 420
G.Skill Aegis 2400Mhz 2 X 4GB = RM 289

Total: 950

[Prices are from Lelong@Kool PC search user Cwchoo85]

How far is the performance difference between these 2 cpu, say for normal browsing and playing dota 2 and csgo. I will pair it with r7 360

And the asrock mobo not too overkill? I just need a simple set up and have no plan for fancy set up like sli

Also tq to both of u

Nevertheless, you may pick any H110 boards, if you just want practical usage and don't care about looks. You don't need to SLI because the board has the function :3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DNiHK_7JeM < Here lies the answers you want. Although, may not cover all the games you play. There are also other videos you can make comparison with.

TL:DR : G4560 is enough for your needs, if the games are so graphical demanding, then upgrade your GPU smile.gif

Need recommendation for cpu, mobo and ram

Budget 1k

Can get better system compared to my previous i3 4130 +8gb?

For new parts, it's either G4560 or i3 7100, i3 7100 will benefit you more due to higher clock speed (3.9GHz vs 3.5GHz) and CS:GO loves high single core clock speed, you'll gain some FPS boosts from it.

But then it is not worth to upgrade from an i3 to another i3, the performance leap is not significant, if you are okay with used parts, look for used i7 4770/i7 4790/Xeon E3 1230v3/Xeon E3 1231v3, these processors are able to bring significant performance improvements over your current setup, as for the mobo and RAM, you can keep using them since they are compatible with these processors (same socket).

Will not recommend SSD with low budget. Especially when you want 1080p.

Core i5-7400 - 799
Asrock H110M-DVS R2.0 - 249
Apacer 8GB DDR4-2133 - 229
Leadtek or Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti 4GB DDR5 - 699
WD Blue or Seagate 1TB - 219
Corsair VS 450W - 189
Tecware F3 case - 125

RM2500 total (Viewnet prices)

For 24" 1080p monitor, you can try LG 24MP68VQ24" at around RM580.

What if I replaced Core i5 with G4560 so that I can save some budget ? Is there any much difference in terms of performance?

Thanks for your suggestion bro.

You will start lagging when you play games that demands the CPU. Especially multiplayer and MMO.

Compatibility and specs wise no problem, you can consider removing the SSD first if you are just around RM 250 away from the GTX1050Ti, add the SSD later when you have more funds (or potentially get a 240GB instead biggrin.gif )

I'm still researching various sources on the internet on potential builds so thanks for the useful starting point. The 4k thing is me trying to future proof but looking at how much power is needed to transcode 4k I don't think there's much I can do without blowing my budget big time. I don't think plex supports GPU transcoding currently so luckily don't have to factor that in.

Building around an i5 7400 seems reasonable as it would seem capable of transcoding 3 x 1080p@10mbps streams with its 7441 passmark. I was thinking I could swap the HDD for a small SSD since i'm running the media off a NAS. What do you think is the power draw for the system you have proposed Tristan?

And.. I do like your case recommendation - simple and elegant, just need to find a seller.

Two 60W light bulbs when maxed out. Should be less after removing Titan Xp.

Not recommended to torrent or CCTV using SSD. It will kill that fast.
