I start surveying on Nvidia Shield non pro, the design caught my attention, and I read many great things about Dolby Atmos and Vision support from Nvidia shield, price difference isn't much compared to Zidoo and Himedia, maybe it's a wiser choice to get the Nvidia Shield? Any downside for this option?

Congrats...There's a reason it's know as "The King of Boxes".. biggrin.gif
Hey.... While it's easier to simply install and update apps via the Google Play Store.. Safer too.. but since you are already in this position, you might as well live with what you have. Perform a factory reset or uninstall as much stuff you believe is crap. I prefer lean running machines. Then hop over to websites such as APKMirror and or APKPure to grab the apps you need. These 2 are reasonable safe to download from. Alternatively, you can install their dedicated "installer" apps. Which makes them an unofficial source for "one-click" app installs and maintenance.. Just like Google's Play Store.
Being able to support all 3 is the main concern... If just DA + DTS:X? Zidoo Z9S can.. AFAIK, Neither the Z9s nor HiMedia does DV. Just HDR10.
Obviously... haha

Kodi...Kodi... Kodi... icon_rolleyes.gif
Nope... You can get it from other sources... Question is if you can find em..Sorry, it's ehem talks and I can't volunteer more. However, for simplicity sakes? I guess yeah.. You could go for something like the EVPAD.. Hate myself for saying that .. but...

Beside the astro advantage, is there any technical shortfall in evpad like lagging etc because you but is making me worry. And Evpad is not cheap

if your absolute criteria are Android TV, DA, DV, and DTS:X? and you want the best possible experience with minimal hassles available today? You'd be hard=pressed to go wrong with the Shield. Others are still forced to play catch-up. Primarily because Nvidia is a HUGE hardware & software company with literal armies of experts at their disposal. So maintenance and updates are pretty much guaranteed. Plus, getting things like Netflix certification is significantly harder for non-American (Read Chinese companies...USA-China trade war not helping) TV box manufacturers.

Confirm no dedicated DV support on pretty much other lower-end boxes. Leaves you that choice... Get the Shield. It might be overkill but since you've got a DV TV and other equipment. Shouldn't be much of a financial stretch to grab it instead.

Yep.. That high cost is due to the IPTV service and not the hardware itself. Example, they are charging RM5xx (RM700 also got) for the EVPAD 5SMY (unspecified 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM) with "lifetime" viewing. That service no cheap. So to make profit, box probably cost them less than RM100 per pcs.. The rest is you having paid for a year or 2 IPTV sub. I'm not a fan of their hardware or business model. But people who tend to buy it usually don't care other stuffs like some of us do.. Just care to switch on and watch channels & VOD. If that's you? Pull the trigger.. Worst case is the service suddenly dies or is blocked. No Refunds and you are now stuck with that box which might not play friendly with other streaming apps.

That's why.. People simply buy funny boxes..What's the app's name? or take photo of the box's hardware and software version? Maybe someone here might recognize it. I did a search and found these...
Singaporean sourced????
There's this seller on Shopee..it looks like a different box than the one above. Maybe contact the seller to ask for assistance?

i owned nvidia shield past few years. and all i do is mostly streaming movie, utube etc.
hardly gaming as most of the game quite boring. its not like PS laugh.gif laugh.gif
gamestream, i tested only just for testing sake, prefer to play at my PC.
geforce now - all high latency since most of their server at US/Europe. not playable.

so, i would say its the best media player box out there. but for gaming, better buy PS

Which USB fan can last long ? the tvbox get overheat and crash/freeze.If you got Allwinner H616 it'll get overheat issue over 85'c.
Those USB fan cost above rm15 even just for 8cm fan.

Can someone find something similar to it? https://shopee.com.my/(BEST)-USB-1200RPM-8C...7405.1186139107
but cheaper price below rm15 ?

I'm new to Android TV box, and considering buying the longtv. Is this "longtv" good? since the specs is only 1GB ram + 8GB rom.

What do you recommend, please suggest, TQ?

I'm recommended to get evpad 5S by a friend. He said he has been using for a years with no issues, and it's also certified by MCMC. And, the evpad 5P seems to be the latest one with more ram + storage.
So, is this evpad 5S or 5P good? is your suggested svi cloud just the same and what is the price?
I meant getting the same variety of channels.

Unfortunately some boxes are just like that.. Poor ventilation or hardware placements or could just be the firmware.. hard to recommend decent coolers if you already feel RM15 is too much. sweat.gif

Option 1: Get a decent box... Hunt down free services yourself and install as necessary.
Option 2: Get a decent box...Pay for some service.. Use till you find a better service... Switch at will.
Option 3: Get a poor or somewhat decent box from ehem "IPTV providers"...Pay them to handle the sourcing on their end.

Most boxes HD or UHD+HDR10 nicely.. Issue is if UnifiTV will play nice on the device. Take my testings on the Beelink GS-King X...Everything else is banging, but recently tested the latest UnifiTV app on it and it falls short. So sometimes, we can't always get what all we want in a single box. Same thing happens with the Asterruk Go app.. Very picky app lately.. Blocks and no worky all over the place. Can't be helped.

No...Just no... Unless your idea of a box is switch on and deal with LongTV IPTV app ONLY. Then by all means.. go ahead. Just don't expect much of anything else.

Right & Wrong... Some of their hardware are certified.. NOT the illegal stuffs service. Let's not mix it up.. But yeah, they have been around for years. Given the nature of their core business, it is not a guarantee that they'll be there for a couple more years or maybe they will..
