It is over price. smile.gif

Wonder why you need defence. Only one. You need to defence so you not feel over paid it. Haha

Nvidia Shield Pro edition is only worth if you gaming on it. For just movie purposes it just simply over price and defeat the purpose for having it.

I mentioned pro edition here because it bundle with 500GB internal storage which is required for gaming storage. I know normal edition can attached external storage but it still got limitation on it.

Nah bruh.. The Nvidia Shield doesn't need defending.. It does its thing and does it well. You seem to be the one who needs to defend your purchase of an underperforming overhyped MiBox.. Heck, you wrote yourself that HDR feature doesn't work.. Your words not mine... laugh.gif

Guess who's HDR works?? Yes, the Shield.. Now run along and enjoy subpar performance.. Those who seek confirmed working HDR amongst other features will get devices that actually do what is advertised. Just laying down facts..

Because I am saying the truth. Mi Box HDR is not working and not everyone need that because If your TV not support HDR then it is useless.

If your TV got HDR then I am pretty sure it is a smart tv that have Netflix and YouTube this two very common apps and so far until now only Netflix and YouTube support HDR. In this case they is not necessary to have a tv box that can run HDR because pretty sure all HDR TV now all came with Netflix and YouTube.

So is HDR broken a big deal? I highly doubt about it. Haha

For paying extra RM 800+ to get a HDR working TV box? This is ridiculous because you still need a HDR capable TV where all HDR TV is already bundle with Netflix and YouTube. Only this two run HDR content for now. Remember that.

Commented like one who has no idea that HDR content exists elsewhere other than YouTube and Netflix.. Here, let me educate you.. Amazon Videos does HDR, want to know how I know? I've watched episodes of The Grand Tour. The 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics can be watched in glorious 4K HDR.. Bluray content exist in either x265 or x264 4K HDR.. Vudu does HDR... All these are available and easily accessible by those who know how and with the right functioning equipment.. Been there, done that.. Don't get me started on DTS:X support.. Which, you guessed it.. Is supported on the Shield but not the MiBox.. whistling.gif So next time before you go around dissing on a device or things you have limited knowledge about, you might want to take a step back and rethink.

Don't hate the player, hate the game... I'm off to sleep.. You might want to get some too..

Edit: noticed your edited post. The above still applies. Even more so the car analogy. Some people rather be stuck in traffic in the back seat of a 7 series than a kancil.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Lee me tell you Amazon Prime for Android TV is not exist yet. They release it but due to some argument within Google. Their apps until now still not working and nobody can install it. They is no apk for side loaded anymore.

Amazon prime video only available to Amazon own device and some brand TV that not running Android TV, for example Panasonic is bundle with it.

You know why I not include Amazon Prime Video? Because it is still not exist for Android TV yet.

Here is Malaysia not USA. Nobody watch Yudu. Yudu content is not that rich to sacrificed time to access it.

Blu-ray UHD do have HDR but it had nothing to do with Android TV. If you plan play illegal, did you know how big size to stream our download actual Blu-ray UHD? Be reality a bit and don't talk nonsense. Even rip version also hardly to get blu-ray version, don't talk on blu-ray UHD.

You talk on sound, how many have sound setup support DTS-X and Dolby Atmos? Another not valid argue point.

In future, check carefully before reply in your not valid story. I am stopping here because you are such a nonsense guy that always want to win and anything also can put in without proper check first.

Unequivocally YES. The Shield is an awesome device for home theatre, whether or not you will be gaming on it.

You need to relax and go easy on the attitude. Humility is a virtue, especially for one who has such shallow knowledge on the subject matter.
The Shield has Amazon Prime Videos working with HDR, so your point while valid for all other Android TV devices, is not correct with regards to the Shield. See what I mean about shallow knowledge?

And yes, HDR is a big deal beyond Netflix & YouTube, I will not elaborate further but seek and thou shalt find. Many people have been using vpns & smartdns, I have been doing so for the past 5 years. So what does it matter whether its only available in the US? Again take note on how shallow your worldview is and how it reflects on your attitude in your post.

Also, many have AVRs with DTS-X and Dolby Atmos like me. Will I buy something that does not support them? Of course not. Does it matter to you? Obviously not, because we our needs are different. So, it may matter to some and not to others. Good to be aware what you're buying either way.

The Mibox has its merit at its price-point. So does the Shield at its price-point.

I am not bashing you, but your ignorant posts really pisses me off especially because your major drive at the moment seems to be about bashing voncrane and not about being objective. I hope we can all move forward to a more cordial thread icon_rolleyes.gif

Seriously.. What's your deal?? Firstly it's Vudu.. Don't know where you pulled Yudu from.. Probably the same place you get your illogical "facts" & analogy from.. Again.. Just because YOU do not watch or use a particular service does not mean others do not. You can't simply make blanket statements like "Nobody watches Vudu".. You don't even know about the service to diss on it. Saying here is Malaysia and no body watches things outside Malaysia? Open your eyes, even in this thread, there are folks who ask about VPN or DNS usage.. Same in other threads. Take Netflix for example.. Many are aware that the Malaysian library is quite limited compared to the USA or Canadian Library. Then there's Chinese HK content, IPTV that will not work unless one is connected via certain VPNs, etc. Seriously, get you head out of the clouds.. You are still a level 1 noob on a scale of 10.. You just started out and trying to sound all smart when you don't even have an inkling of what is being discussed. You who only recently realized that Netflix only offers FHD/UHD/HDR on certified devices. Son, I've been dealing with Android since Eclair days.. You were probably still using some dumb phone back then. I ran Android off SD cards in the then Windows Mobile powered HTC HD2 smartphone. Flashed custom ROMs on my Palm Treo Pro.. Did such stuffs when actual coding knowledge was required to get things working. I know my sh*ts and don't need to prove it to you. You posts clearly show your noobness..

You suddenly bought a Mibox in 2017 and everything's all pre-setup for you and you think you are an expert on all things Android TV? You press a button and voila, everything loads.. Want to install an app or addon? tap to install.. No adb or ssh, etc.. laugh.gif laugh.gif .. Even script kiddies are more tech-gifted than you are. I have my info drilled in from years of research and experience in the field.. Oh yeah, about bluray uhd with HDR.. Do you even know what the x265 compression standard does and it's advantage over x264? I bet you don't cuz else you won't be commenting about size restrictions. When do you think we are in...2010? Son, it's 2018 and we who know how can very easily get such content for half the size of regular x264 mkvs. I'll give you a hint...private trackers and seedbox.. You might want to google those kid. As for Bluray SDR, tons of public trackers offer those in abundance and for years.. Demonoid, TPB, etc..truly a noob, says hard to get regular 1080p/4K bluray rips laugh.gif Of course you have to stop, cuz you don't know what you are talking about. It's not about winning.. far from it, I don't care what you think of me.. It's the internet.. Losers like you who think you are smart are a dime a dozen. I on the other hand always reply posts with facts and logic.. Not emotions or because I don't use something, then automatically it's no good. Nope.

FYI... I don't even own the Nvidia Shield and I'm actually a Minix fan still with the Neo U1.. Feel free to check my posts and ask around the forum for my rep. Even with my love for all Minix. You won't see me dissing on other devices that are proven to be better. Every device has its strength and weaknesses, from page one, you would have been told. There is no perfect box. Don't be sad cuz you don't or can't get the latest in AV equipment.. I don't, you don't see me telling people that Dolby Atmos or DTS:X is irrelevant.... And that is the final difference between us. I do not argue blindly because I think/feel.. I refute misleading statements with I know. What I don't know, I do not claim to know.. You've pulled a stunt like this before and I schooled you then as I school you now.. icon_rolleyes.gif

That's only one aspect. I am sure you can find in the same page other less good comments about Shield, such as upscaling, just one line above the your attached screenshot.

Like I said.. There isn't a one-all-things perfect box. There's only the best there is for our requirements at the moment. Does not make the Shield any less powerful bro. That's why I'd still pick the Shield over most. It's track record and superior support. If something's broken that shouldn't and can be fixed? enough noise is made and the guys at Nvidia work hard to push an update. They won't just abandon the box and let folks figure it out for themselves. My top priority for any major electronic device I purchase is always excellent after-sales support. Preferably in conjunction with the community and not just manufacturer's devs. If I could tweak my refrigerator.. I would.. biggrin.gif

Can... Off the top of my head, Lowyat forum's "fav" seller appears to be Nicety. Based on popularity within this thread. I don't like to play favorites for such in case payment or delivery issues. So full disclaimer. Purchase from whoever or whichever online shop at your own risk. My first 3 boxes were all from Aliexpress, shipped from HK. Cuz back then, they had such devices faster and official sellers. Never had any issues with any of the boxes.. Sold em off in excellent condition. IMO, now I prefer to buy local as it's readily available, can get hands on the new toy faster. Especially the Shield, I've read that if buy from overseas, SIRIM will stop it and you must pay some amount for certification..can't remember how much, but should <RM200.. So there's that. Buy from Lazada ships overseas is okay as the seller or Lazada will handle all for you. All has been calculated into the selling price, that's why sometimes it can be more expensive. Delivery recently takes about a week for me.

I recommended people things start from simple not complexity because now is 2018. Simplicity is everything. I never said Nvidia Shield is lousy or Mi Box is perfect but I talk on the value on it depends on the needs.

I think you need to re-read page 1, there is no perfect box. For my use case scenario, it works wonderfully and its the best android tv box available. Not everyone will be happy with it because it may not work for what they want to do. There is a guy in the Nvidia Shield thread who is not happy with his newly purchased Shield because the external storage does not work well with Quasar. For me I stream stuff from my NAS on Kodi & use the streaming apps, so this is not an issue for me. So does that make my view invalid because there are negative reviews? I guess it depends on whether the negative points are related to stuff that you may need. If it is, then stay away and find something else. I have been using media boxes for a long time now since the Sigma vs Realtek days, and unfortunately, there are still no perfect boxes. But fortunately for me, the Shield is now the only box I need. Will probably upgrade only when I get a Dolby Vision tv sometime in the future.

No perfect box is not a good excuse for a box such as Shield going at the price.

Poor upscaler, if it is true as claimed by the Kodi/LibreElec developer, is something very significant and fundamentally important. According to the developer, a cheapo Amlogic box does better job than shield in this aspect.
