Look like the Beelink is good spec. But 3x the price of someone here offer me his 2nd set. sweat.gif

But might thing of this Beelink set. The spec look like can upgrade android easily. Hope it can last very long.

lol. Beelink cant even get their firmware working right.
go to Beelink forum and you can see for yourself, how many users are fuming that their GT1 dead/brick after upgrade firmware.
of course it can be resurrected, but it is such a hassle to short pins and all.

how do i know? i faced the issue myself. and how do i solved it? by flashing 3rd party firmware.
yeah u read it right. 3RD PARTY FIRMWARE.
Beelink cant even get their firmware to work correctly.

Hi there, a quick question for a noobie here. I plan to remove astro away from my house as it's costing a bomb every month.

drRK has some awesome review and detail information on internet streaming boxes. But in your opinion, which box is the most value for money?

HiMedia seems to be on top of quality.. honestly, a noobie like me tend to lean towards mibox as it's much famous but i reckon you guys will know much better.

continue astro, subscribe multiroom then we pay half-half. hehehe

My video playback on kodi is very choppy whereas kodi on my htc phone is quite smooth.

Could it be that my M9S Pro's processing is too slow? Antutu only gave it 29000 score ohmy.gif

Hope this can help..i have try to change in the display settings..but the picture is still not sharp..hope to get solution in here..

We can't see what you are seeing...how not sharp is it? We have no reference to your sharp vs not sharp. You sure is the box?...can be bad source, bad box, bad cable, bad tv...

Other than select 720p or 1080p...there is not much more you can do. You can try MX, VLC, etc., see if that helps...and adjust TV settings etc.

Comparing my Q16 and Vensmile, Vensmile is not as sharp...but it's also not soft and fuzzy type of unsharp...

The S905 is fast enough...you may need to redo your Kodi install or reset the box...could also be wifi/ethernet problem...or bad ram/rom...

My HDMI self adaptation setting doesn't have level 1 & 2, only ON or OFF. Could it be affecting the frame rate?

Hmm, looks like a generic brand. Try some troubleshooting first to rule out other hardware. Swap cables, use other media players.. Heck, hook it up to another tv and compare.

While benchmark scores are nice.. IMO, merely a pissing contest. I rely more on real world testing and reviews.. Need more info, what Kodi version are you running, what you of file is being played, how is it being played, etc..

Possible... As the firmware (especially where Kodi is concerned) typically handles the switch on a system level. If there's an option to specifically select 24hz as default display, select it.. It'll help with most 23.xx -ish files outthere.

Good spec with poor support, no no nope.
I've learned it the hard way.
The firmware is what interfaces u to the so called good hardware. If this part problematic, no matter how good the hardwares are, you'll still end up getting sub par quality.

Correct.. I keep emphasizing on this.. Hardware + Software combo is what makes a solid device.. Any "manufacturer" can mash the usual hardware together. But only a few can harness that hardware and the Android OS properly.

My M9S Pro running Kodi 17.1 Krypton. Nearly all videos from Exodus & 720p tv shows on Mediacorp have stuttering motion. However, I noticed lower resolution videos tend to have less choppy playback.

Should I look for a custom firmware to replace the current one

So the Beelink firmware support is sucks ? That is what I m afraid.

So what else box is good with the same price range ?

Or get a cheap wan low spec? No more support just throw away.

No. Most people don't notice the 3:2 pull-down, don't know what it is, don't know what to look for. It's not stuttering like you are describing...

I assume you have tried playing local videos without problems? Then it's not a refresh rate problem. If it's only Kodi, hard reset the box and try again...update the firmware if required, to official or 3rd party...

...and turn off Kodi hardware accelation...this maybe your main problem...and try SPMC, FTMC, etc...

Which M9S pro did you get? 2/16Gb, 1/8GB? It's reputation is having fake memory... fruitie's 3/32Gb unit is working fine though

I understand there is OEM support...just that the latest firmware is problematic...

The Beelink is great for people trying out different 3rd party firmwares...

Beelink not so bad la, At least better than those chapalang brands. Got to their official website to see for yourself.
http://www.bee-link.com/portal.php
or you can ask the opinion from our Beelink taikor Khalid21 in Beelink thread here:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4044338

For mid range boxes with better firmware, you can go for the likes of Himedia, Minix but definitely out of your budget.

You can also go for Mecool S912 box which is shipped with latest android 7.

I just got an Docooler M9S pro 2/16GB from TOMTOP on a sale and it was dirt cheap.
So far I have tried the normal movie and tv apps and it's working ok. Haven't have the time to try out KODI yet.
Will try it out tonight.

However, one thing that worries me is the weight of the Docooler box. It feels feather light compared to my other budget box, the MXQ Pro 1/8GB.
The MXQ Pro have a heft to it. I also have a Beelink Mini which is also much heavier than the Docooler.
Is this normal? Any M9S pro owners can comment on this?
I know this is a budget box and to be fair, it's working fine for me. I'm just curious.

Mine is the same as yours except it is 3GB/32GB version.

Light or not, I'm OK la, so long it works. biggrin.gif

For Kodi, honestly speaking Krypton didn't work well, it kept crashing and hang my box. doh.gif
I switched back to Jarvis and everything works flawlessly now. rclxms.gif

I've had 2 box with different weight same size and spec but the lighter doesn't give even one problem but the heavier one gives multiple problem resulting in having to do clean wipe
