Thanks.

Is that memory enough ? 1GB DDR3. I check the review and mostly is a 2gb version.
i only open kodi, iflix and youtube on this box (thats only what i teach my maid anyway). So far never encountered low memory warning.

That Android 5.1 is upgrade able?
nope, stock firmware only at 5.1. Not sure about custom / 3rd party firmware.

My TV always face memory full. And now face the old firmware problem. Sian.

Just wondering for future Kodi V18 that runs on 64bits, does it mean my Android box need to be 64 bits too at least? So the Beelink SEA 1 will not work when it migrate to V18?

Average Streaming Bitrates

Typical Movies & TV shows
4K / UHD file encoding 11.2 to 11.8 mbps; my Unifi Lite not fast enough to stream
FHD file encoding 2.1 to 2.5 mbps; Unifi DL speed ~3 mbps
HD file encoding 1.2 to 1.6 mbps; Unifi DL speed ~2 mbps

Providers' encoding variation for same movie/show varies about 0.1~0.2 mbps

Info gathered during playback using Kodi & MX player

Interestingly most FHD/HD files are 23/24 fps...the two 4K movies checked was 30 fps...

Thanks for the sharing.
I am planning to get an Android box but not sure need to upgrade my Unifi speed.
My current plan is Unifi Lite 10Mbps, i guess stream FHD file should not be a problem, right?

You don't have to update to V18 you know...I suspect somebody will have a 32 bit fork...

For YouTube? Sufficient... Want more? Have to cough up more cash and get a better device.

Future firmware support? Same as above.. More $$

Summary: With Android powered devices, you really get what you pay for...

Don't get it mixed up bruh.. Latest news about Kodi V18 & 64-bit is that the Windows OS will finally get a 64-bit version. Prior to V18, it has been 32-bit. Other platforms like Linux, OSX and even Android already have 64-bit versions in addition to 32-bit versions (which is what you are running now).

Streaming FHD should be no issue until it becomes one.. All depends on the source and your network health.

Better go for min 2GB ram/ 16GB rom and android 6. Once you have an android box, you wouldn't just watch YouTube alone, you will fill up your internal memory with all sorts of apps in on time just like you fill up your android phone internal storage.
Then again, from 2GB/16GB box to 3GB/32Gb box, the price difference is just a full tank of petrol or a simple dinner for a small family, you might as well go for 3GB/32GB. Android 7 if possible.

Those who want to use their mobile broadband but unsure whether the coverage/speed is good or not, can test via the OpenSignal app (free at Google Playstore).

Based on ur location (or wherever u set in the map), OpenSignal app will display the network comparison based on average speedtest done by users.

It's all about running a lean & safer (in case malware) installation. So advisable? Yes, especially if you know your way around handling and setting up the device from scratch. However, it's not a must. As some devices ship with custom apps that once uninstalled, can prove difficult to obtain again. So check first. I prefer boxes that ship as close to Android vanilla as possible.

If it does ship with Kodi that already has a bunch of addons and other crap installed. I say, nuke that and do your fresh install and setup.

You guys ever had a problem with the brightness/contrast that makes the picture look too dark?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mVGfuGvbLQ

According to this youtuber, it affects many S912 boxes?

If I recall correctly, it's typically fixed by a firmware update.. So pester your device's manufacturer.

Hei Thanks for your advise.

Remember last time you show me your Roku player. Still using it?

Youtube is already more than enough for me. I still have another media player for movie. With both, already overwhelm me the time spend on it.

I prefer spend more time at outdoor.

But if 2gb ram and android 6 is minimium spec, than I will try to look for such spec. I hate to replace again when the spec cannot support.

Hi there, a quick question for a noobie here. I plan to remove astro away from my house as it's costing a bomb every month.

drRK has some awesome review and detail information on internet streaming boxes. But in your opinion, which box is the most value for money?

HiMedia seems to be on top of quality.. honestly, a noobie like me tend to lean towards mibox as it's much famous but i reckon you guys will know much better.
