QUOTE(muncheno @ Mar 29 2017, 09:32 PM) If same spec and price, definite Beelink have better firmware support. H96PRO Pro+ also come with ddr4 now on latest batch, firmware is very uncertain at the moment. DDR3 can run super celeron custom ROM not DDR4. QUOTE(voncrane @ Mar 29 2017, 11:25 PM) Thank you sirs. With your remmendation, I proceeded to buy one from Aliexpress. Got 7th anniversary promo price. USD71 for box + wireless mini keyboard. Can't find GT1 Ultimate in all local shopping portals yet. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Beelink-GT1...97-9607c5d75108 |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Mar 30 2017, 11:08 AM) You are welcome. In addition to this thread.. Make sure to hang out in the discussion thread for Beelink devices.. Will do. Thanks for the link. QUOTE(demon88 @ Mar 30 2017, 11:49 AM) Wow that Beelink GT1 ultimate only half of the latest Minix price, ave to get one and see if the extra money for minix really give something. Before this, we only see the same hardware with half of the price, but this has extra 1GB RAM and 16GB storage. It's about USD63 without the wireless keyboard add on + Shopback 8% cash back. Quite a fair deal. Thanks for the info. Initially wanted to go for Nvidia Shield 2017 but 3x the price of Beelink. As I have the tendency to upgrade boxes when it becomes outdated, so I opted to save the money now for one or two future "free" box upgrade. Of course NS 2017 is much more superior than Beelink. |

QUOTE(starz92 @ Apr 18 2017, 11:00 AM) Guys, for my first android tv box (zero experience) , do you think I should buy a RM500~RM600 box or a cheaper option like RM200~RM400 box? Zero experience? Then I suggest you to start off with the RM300+/- box. Your can get S912, 3G ram, 32GB memory, Android 6 with this budget and good enough for you to experiment and learn for one or two years before it gets obsolete.Mainly will use for streaming english/chinese/hongkong drama or some movie. For movie playback from so far I am quite satisfied with my Samsung 4k TV (ks7000 series) . The downside is the Samsung custom OS have quite limited apps available. I would prefer it to be a smooth device without much lag. Currently I am in between this 2 box as suggested by fellow forumers here. http://www.lazada.com.my/minix-neo-u9-h-am...71326.html?ff=1 http://www.lazada.com.my/himedia-q10pro-4t...ml?ff=1&boost=1 Actually tempted to get those paid ahem iptv service but their box seems low spec and I am worry of sluggish performance. thanks in advance fellow sifus Minix and himedia are established brands, if money is not a concern, by all means, go for it. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ May 8 2017, 11:40 PM) In Korea now, one regret didn't bring my box here. I was in Jeju since yesterday and yesterday's hotel room was 60" inch Samsung TV and today's hotel is 55" Samsung as well, Korean and their patriotism. When I was there 4 years ago, their hotels already providing 100mbps internet speed. I guess you are getting even faster speed now.Fast Internet with big TV. But again, I won't have time to watch as well since busy sightseeing. Btw, your S912 box got dark screen issue? |

QUOTE(fruitie @ May 12 2017, 11:11 AM) Your S905 may not be effected by this issue. Not all users will notice this dark screen issue if they are first time tv box user and don't have other better PQ boxes to compare. I'm coming from Roku3, AppleTV 4, that's why can easily spot the PQ difference. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Jun 1 2017, 10:56 PM) I think the repeat of such question was due to the title of this topic. I suggest TS replace the word recommendation with the word discussion and see if the frequency of such question can be reduced. |

QUOTE(dwRK @ Jun 2 2017, 09:56 AM) Thanks for input. I must say you've done a very good job. Thank you very much for your efforts and contributions. It's really hard to say why people keep posting as such. Do they... 1. Don't trust 1st page 2. Think 1st page is obsolete 3. Didn't read 1st page 4. Want easy answer 5. ... As TS, I can only keep 1st page updated and relevant...I don't know what they think...I can't control one liner "recommendation please" posts... I doubt whatever title I use will be any more effective... I thought for weeks what title to use... If folks choose to respond to these questions...just keep cool... ✌ QUOTE(voncrane @ Jun 2 2017, 10:06 AM) I get your point..valid.. Though we've done that and changing the title to discussion, that type of question will still be asked. Thanks to TS's detailed page one, the frequency has reduced compared to version 1 of this topic. By right it should be elminiated completely. But no, some folks will still come in and request as such. So my answer to such is warranted.. I like the bold part. Perfect one liner answer for one liner question. Courteous and non intimating 1. Get the Nvidia Shield (This will prompt em to either buy it or magically find out its way over their budget or overkill for their (also magically realized) requirements. OR 2. Read Page one, do some light research to narrow down models and return with a more appropriate question. Bruh... you did a good job.. Don't sweat it. The thread title was different and still version one kept plagued with these sorts of question. Such a question only comes from one type of individuals.. The ones who purposely ignore publicly and easily available info and simply want to be spoon-fed. Don't know what they think we've been discussing among ourselves for 68 pages. |

QUOTE(ozak @ Jun 30 2017, 09:20 AM) Thanks. Better go for min 2GB ram/ 16GB rom and android 6. Once you have an android box, you wouldn't just watch YouTube alone, you will fill up your internal memory with all sorts of apps in on time just like you fill up your android phone internal storage. Is that memory enough ? 1GB DDR3. I check the review and mostly is a 2gb version. That Android 5.1 is upgrade able? My TV always face memory full. And now face the old firmware problem. Sian. Then again, from 2GB/16GB box to 3GB/32Gb box, the price difference is just a full tank of petrol or a simple dinner for a small family, you might as well go for 3GB/32GB. Android 7 if possible. |

QUOTE(ozak @ Jul 3 2017, 09:31 AM) Hei Thanks for your advise. My Roku3 already sold. Got an AppleTV 4 64GB to let go, you want ? Remember last time you show me your Roku player. Still using it? Youtube is already more than enough for me. I still have another media player for movie. With both, already overwhelm me the time spend on it. I prefer spend more time at outdoor. But if 2gb ram and android 6 is minimium spec, than I will try to look for such spec. I hate to replace again when the spec cannot support. For your needs, you can consider the following: H96pro+ Beelink GT1 Ultimate Mecool M8S Pro Again, the price difference between 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB is negligible, some as low as US13.00 at Aliexpress. |

QUOTE(ozak @ Jul 5 2017, 09:10 AM) So the Beelink firmware support is sucks ? That is what I m afraid. Beelink not so bad la, At least better than those chapalang brands. Got to their official website to see for yourself. So what else box is good with the same price range ? Or get a cheap wan low spec? No more support just throw away. http://www.bee-link.com/portal.php or you can ask the opinion from our Beelink taikor Khalid21 in Beelink thread here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4044338 For mid range boxes with better firmware, you can go for the likes of Himedia, Minix but definitely out of your budget. You can also go for Mecool S912 box which is shipped with latest android 7. |

Shield TV is the first streamer to play YouTube with 5.1 surround sound with the latest 7.2.2 update. Also, Amazon Prime video gets Dolby Atmos in 7.2.2.
