You guys ever had a problem with the brightness/contrast that makes the picture look too dark?

According to this youtuber, it affects many S912 boxes?

My video playback on kodi is very choppy whereas kodi on my htc phone is quite smooth.

Could it be that my M9S Pro's processing is too slow? Antutu only gave it 29000 score ohmy.gif

The S905 is fast enough...you may need to redo your Kodi install or reset the box...could also be wifi/ethernet problem...or bad ram/rom...

My HDMI self adaptation setting doesn't have level 1 & 2, only ON or OFF. Could it be affecting the frame rate?

While benchmark scores are nice.. IMO, merely a pissing contest. I rely more on real world testing and reviews.. Need more info, what Kodi version are you running, what you of file is being played, how is it being played, etc..

My M9S Pro running Kodi 17.1 Krypton. Nearly all videos from Exodus & 720p tv shows on Mediacorp have stuttering motion. However, I noticed lower resolution videos tend to have less choppy playback.

Should I look for a custom firmware to replace the current one

No. Most people don't notice the 3:2 pull-down, don't know what it is, don't know what to look for. It's not stuttering like you are describing...

I assume you have tried playing local videos without problems? Then it's not a refresh rate problem. If it's only Kodi, hard reset the box and try again...update the firmware if required, to official or 3rd party...

...and turn off Kodi hardware accelation...this maybe your main problem...and try SPMC, FTMC, etc...

Which M9S pro did you get? 2/16Gb, 1/8GB? It's reputation is having fake memory... fruitie's 3/32Gb unit is working fine though

Yes local videos no problems. Turned off Kodi hardware acceleration, still choppy but to a lesser degree. Will have to try SPMC & FTMC soon, can they run Exodus?

My M9S Pro is 2/16GB. The firmware seems buggy, it had the brightness problem causing shadow details to be crushed.

New users, please don't get Docooler M9S Pro. Very buggy, not to mention the faulty HDMI cable provided

Honestly, I'm using one since Dec and no issue. Mine is the 3GB RAM and 32GB version, not sure if that matters.
Nothing is faulty and my only complaint is the buggy Kodi but that's fixed by reverting back to Jarvis. Everything works flawlessly now.
Which seller did you get from? I got from Lazada and the seller is TOMTOP.

Yeah got it from TOMTOP too. However, mine is the 2GB RAM/16GB version

Something not quite right with the firmware I suspect. The stock Kodi app is unusable because video playback is very choppy.

Had to switch to SPMC jarvis to get decent video playback. However, the bottom half of the screen blacks out from time to time ohmy.gif
