Hi guys, just got my FSM account approved just now.
I'm a newbie and currently overwhelmed by the vast amount of fund choices.
My mum wants me to help her invest, she is 60 y/o at the moment.

Under the recommended fund section, I think RHB Bond Fund suits her best, better than her money in FD now.

What I wanna ask is, are there better low risk funds (not listed in recommended fund) compared to what I mentioned above?

Also, I'm 22 y/o now, I have some savings now and wish to invest now too, I'm thinking of:

1. Kenanga Growth Fund
2. EASTSPRING INVESTMENTS GLOBAL EMERGING MARKETS FUND
3. CIMB-PRINCIPAL ASIA PACIFIC DYNAMIC INCOME FUND
4. AFFIN HWANG SELECT ASIA (EX JAPAN) QUANTUM FUND
5. EASTSPRING INVESTMENTS GLOBAL LEADERS MY FUND

I'm planning to invest my first 5k here

there is nothing to be despaired...nothing is too late in investing world....
there are other train/boat to catch...just allocated your portfolio according to your preference.....
do periodic DCA by "paying yourself first".

when that happens manulife us will tank. Its not a weather of if he gets impeached but rather when. I just switched all my us into India.

now to rebalance my port.

but TAGF still seems strong, not really affected by Trump..i can see that Americans really regret voting for Trump already

You could have invested on interpac equity ( dana safi or dynamic). They have been performing VERY well, better than EI small cap.

gives it a try for 2~3 years....in the meantime monitor your emotional reactions to markets movement to see if those funds and its allocations are to your likings or not in terms of overall portfolio returns and volatility.....

For your mum, I recommend Affin Hwang Select Bond fund. It is my choice of fund to beat FD, relatively stable return (higher historical return compare to RHB bond fund ) and volatility.

For you, I think that your choice of funds are quite decent, try to allocate them into percentage. You can also refer to FSM Recommended Portfolio for the percentage allocation into each sector or country, and then substitute with the funds you like. It is quite helpful for me as a beginner too.

Yes true. But with the strengthening in MYR the fund should show so lost coupled with the negative impact from US.

Unless the quantum of EU and JP is greater to offset both US and forex.

Just checking, anybody holding on to aberdeen world equity since launched or for more than 2 years?

i have been holding on for 2.5 years. i think i have given them enough time... and i should really divest it. Wondering what's your opinion on it.
