An overview of FD promos in June.

The timing was so ngam, i was calling them to ask if there was any promotion, they told me they are offering X% FD for selected customers, so i asked the bank staff to ask the bosses if i can get the FD promotion or not.

Just an update: transaction already >24 hrs, 3 calls and same answer - no update on progress from relevant team. This is one of the reasons for our weak currency

Called them again, the rate does change during the tenure. They clarified that its based off OPR (OPR+1.5%). Any changes up/down will be average out during the tenure. In addition, this is protected by pidm as well, so not the same as those TIA.

I don't think this is true. I did not sign any form which states what you stated. It is FD. Not TIA or Structured product. Who did you confirm this with? Some random staff or branch manager? I confirmed with the Branch Operation Manager.

My infor is from the customer service and later a bank officer called me back to confirm the calculation for changes to the OPR. It is not a TIA as they consider this as a deposit product, hence covered by pidm.

Did you get your info from the branch manager?

Good thing for those who grabbed the May promo rates instead of waiting for their June promo rates, which never came!

Assistant Branch Manager, aka the Operation Manager. The counter people report to her. Once you placed this FD, the rate is locked down until maturity even if OPR rate changes. A FD certificate is being issued with the details, rate plus the amount earned.

Have you placed this FD before? They will give you some documents to sign, but none states the fluctuating OPR condition. Not sure if we are talking about the same product.

Pleasantly surprised at BI that issued FD cert on the spot for cheque FD placement. 4.5%/12mths till year end according to the officer. Out in an hour - which is fast for a snail bank 😄

Maybe I dumped it into BI as MBSB stopped their promo

Side note. I have one MBSB 6 mth auto renewed today...still 4.25%.
