Shouldn't the FD be times by 3.5% and CA by 0.05%? I think that shld be the correct way of calculation. Effective rate is when both are added up. At the end always look for effective rate as the correct rate

Clearly that was what MBSB showed in the table yet people still fall for it

Sorry, my mistake doh.gif Below is the correct calculation:

RM 10000 ---> 70% to FD at 3.55%, 30% to Prime Win at 0.05%

FD: RM 7000 x 3.55% = RM 248.5 profit per year

Prime Win: RM 3000 x 0.05% = RM 1.5 profit per year

RM 248.5 + RM 1.5 = RM 250/2 = RM 125.00 is 6 months' FD profit

RM 250/RM 10000 = 2.5% effective rate

Yesterday went to BR to withdraw FD. Still old promo of 12 mth 2.6%.

Went to AB to place 70/30 FD/CASA promo. FD portion at 4.12%. Interest to AmStar with tiered interest. Calculated net around 2.85% to 2.95% or so.

Effective interest depends on amt in CASA (which one SA, AmStar, True Saving etc) and the tiered interest u receive.

Guys, this few days saw few cases of money missing from bank account reported in chinese news media. I guess the old fashion way OTP placement OTP withdrawal is still the safer option.

I support to have the traditional official FD certs just like Bank Rakyat and MBSB, so if FD missing from Bank,
FD depositors can use the FD certs to ask Banks to responsible if the fault is from banks.

If bank internet security is not good enough to protect customers, the use back old traditional way is the only way.
I personally prefer to safeguard our money first.

I suggest everybody should make a screenshot of all FD info from your internet banking. Especially eFD that has no black and white on paper as proof, what if our eFD are suddenly missing, at least we have screenshot as proof to complain to banks.

no harm keep proof i just checked my HLB online all in order. I also noticed every withdrawal there is a clickable money trail records, can see when money taken out from where to where......if really somebody steal the money can trace back also. if whole page wiped off that is something big then the bank would be in deep trouble already whether u screenshot or not.

Damn, yesterday another 61yo ex policeman kena RM20k. Same modus operandi from the previous cases, transferred to ewallet.
Some of the previous cases that I read was that bank claimed that the fraudulent fund transfers were legit transfers and bank don't responsible for the loss.
https://www.sinchew.com.my/20220609/%e9%80%...b9%9f%e6%b2%a1/

Just to share my own precautionally security measure to minimise the financial fraud.

1) turn off unknown sources installation on the phone.
2) set "view only" for FD accounts. (Not all online banking supported)
3) only set max transfer limit on need basis.
4) OTC FD placement if possible.
5) The most important of all, activate and enable APP Approve.

Please share if you have any suggestion to improve the security.
