Anyone using WD80EFZX HDD as usual desktop drive? Seems nice but the noise from youtube videos I watched seems worrying. Some like those old delta fan with the fan edge hitting cables.

Depends on how often and how fast you want to use the file (watching movie, network fileshare for music or video files, game file) if just to park your video files, seldom use documents or pictures then cctv is good enough since the cctv speed is 5400 rpm while barracuda one is 7200rpm.Thank you. |

I read that and watch some youtube videos of the Ironwolf nas going jet plane As quiet as 5400RPM WD RED 3T, since iron wolf is 5900RPM all HDD is install in a corsair casing. Jump to Seagate due to WD 'series' a lot RMA this my 2Nd seagate Nas Drive thought like save some going CCTV(skyhawk) series but choose Nas series. But going to try next for skyhawk for next purchase. |

I thought of going to buy a 2TB Western Digital Blue hard disk and what I
read here is WD hard disks are not as good as it used to be. How depressing. |

Hi guys,
Need your advice. I am currently looking for a HDD upgrade. My current HDD is Western Digital 3.5" 500GB 7200RPM SATA 6 16MB cache - WD5000AAKX Can recommend me a HDD to upgrade with my budget under RM200? And if worst come to worst, can buffer another RM50.. Thank you in advance! Edit- I found this forum https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4557588 But I'm not sure if it's worth the upgrade.. This post has been edited by zack_jr: Jun 28 2018, 07:37 AM |

Hello guys,
I want to buy one more extra external HDD recently, looking for 4TB. I did some research and found WD MyBook 4TB and Passport 4TB but the price different is quite a lot. Look around at Lazada found the MyBook is fetching RM6xx but Passport only around RM4xx. So is there any difference between these two models? I only know MyBook need power adapter and Passport doesn’t. My usage only copy data into it and keep, not going to plugging in all the time. So could advice me which is better buy? Thanks. |

I plan to get 2-4TB 2.5" PMR (non-SMR) HDD.
The closest I can find is Samsung Spinpoint M9T 2TB, as usual, no one is selling the internal drive in Malaysia. Some say it is enclosed in Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB STDR200010X. Have anyone shucked this specific drive before? The M9T is also inside the Seagate 2TB Expansion, Seagate Backup Plus Fast 4TB and Samsung P3 Portable. Any better suggestion? No matter how modern is the hard disk. Make sure it is 7200rpm. Since none of them makes 10000rpm or higher for consumers these days.
Manufacturers putting 5400-5900rpm now. WD Blue 2TB onwards is 5400rpm, Seagate Barracuda Compute 4TB is 5400rpm. Slower rpm means higher access time and slower sequential file copy. |

Just to ask , any manufacturer guideline or warning of limit safe zone on a hard disk transfer perday ?
I create a thread but I doubt someone have knowledge to reply it.Hope Hardisk community here can give a few suggestion. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=4687896 I read even some newly bought 1TB external hard disk , if transfer 1 shot of 500GB backup will even corrupt the hard disk. |
