QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jan 2 2017, 09:44 AM) any hdd 2tb to recommend? for 2nd hard drive usage, primary hdd is SSD for critical programs and OS only. Most of the stuffs like games etc is going to be on this HDD, should i go for SSHD type or others? Get 250GB/256GB SSD to install OS+important programs+important games (mehhh) then the remaining programs/files/docs put in HDD, no need SSHD for that because SSD will do the work already.

QUOTE(kianweic @ Jan 2 2017, 06:20 AM) 1. Can a Purple surveillance WD use as storing media files vs WD Green as media storage ? I would think so. Purple should be more durable but I have never owned any WD purple. 2. Maximum read/write TB for a specific hard disk and etc ? 1 day achieving 2TB r/w ? PCB board quality and etc. This is too technical for me. I have only used WD Blue and WD Red for archiving and have several of them which failed after their warranties have lapsed. Thanks and also What is the did different between HGST 2.5 internal hard disk vs WD 2.5 ? which brand do you recommend ? Using for external storage. some list and price HGST 32M / 7200RPM 265 SEAGATE 5400RPM 265 WD 8M / 5400RPM 249 WD 16M / 7200RPM 302

Hiya everyone.. Just to check. Should i get SV35 or Skyhawk ? I'm currently using it as a secondary partition to store my video files(mostly HD). I'll use my main system hdd to access this secondary partition to watch video as well. This is not a NAS and it's my personal desktop pc.

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jan 2 2017, 04:09 PM) WD red only 5400rpm, will it be slow? because alot of my programs will be installed on that HDD.. Bigger capacity like 4TB & above, single partition to store movies and musics. Programs usually install to SSD/7200rpm HDD, usually 500GB-1TB best suits. That's why my computer at least got 2SSD & 2 HDD as minimum.

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Jan 1 2017, 09:33 PM) It's not nosier , it's the read/write sound. Normal hard disk seeking is like mechanical cranking sound but it's on whining sound. No cranking but coil whining when r/w btw , I would like to ask about pro and cons on WD rainbow color type. Most website only mention their different but about the cons for the hard disk firmware , non of them mention.Whether it jump on seeking or less intelligent on firmware. Take example , can a Purple surveillance WD use as storing media files vs WD Green as media storage ? Maximun read/write TB for a specific hard disk and etc ? 1 day achieving 2TB r/w ? PCB board quality and etc. Yes, surveillance and NAS hard disk is extreme reliable. All my 4 computers never use cheapo regular desktop hard disk, some of my hard disk already 10 years still strong. I now still raise fund to buy next Seagate Ironwolf HDD to my backup purpose for all my computers.

=.= this thread seems rather dead... Just ask a suggestion for Seagate Skyhawk vs sv35 seems like no replies. Not requiring a 24/7 support or instant one since it's a free joint community advice only. But at least an advise at least?
Why when picking fault against each others view, only all the experts will appear.
