no, you are not out of the loop, neither is he saying that steelseries is better than ducky.

he meant that he heard of steelseries brand more than ducky.

not surprising, because when i first started doing research about mkb, i've never heard of ducky brand before and i was like, "wat the heck brand name is this???" laugh.gif

I borrowed my friend's Logitech G610 while my masterkeys L white is sent to warranty.

I noticed the LED of G610 is slightly smaller. This is just my feel though lol. However, the led surface of g610 seems clearer and more transparent while the led surface of masterkeys looked cloudy.

Then the key also feel different even though both are cherry brown. They sound different too. Is it because of the key caps ?

Input Club's Hako True/Clear switches pre-order period has been extended to 20th this month.

Is anyone buying these? I am really intrigued by the last gen's Halo switches but never got the chance to try them. These Hakos seem to have reasonable price too.

if you like tactile bumps, it's worth a try. it was said that these kailh-derived box switches have the least wobbles, and has a crazy long lifespan of 80mil strokes (tbh i still cannot find a good source that can tell us how they achieve that number)

i will get their linear box switches (red, black) first. believe it or not, kailh is said to be the no.1 mechanical switches manufacturer in china now.

I have a switch tester that includes Kailh BOX Black and Red, both of them feels amazing. I put them in my Zhuque to try them out, and they are very smooth indeed. Compared to my Cherry MX Red board and another with Gateron Blacks side by side, I find them slightly smoother than the Gaterons. Typically I don't really care for key wobbliness, but these BOX switches definitely have less wobble.

I still have about two weeks to consider whether to get the Hako switches or not. To be honest I am still kinda torn on what switch do I want to put on my XD75re, haha. sweat.gif

it's nice to hear that. i prefer lubed switches over stock; and keys that wobble are not nice imo, especially for modifiers and space bar.

xd75re supports switch hot-swapping. just get what you want most smile.gif

edit: damn cannot resist the curiosity, just ordered some red and black hehe

I think you will like them. thumbsup.gif
If only there are 67g springs that are compatible with BOX switches, then these can be the budget Tealios (provided if one has the patience to mod and further lube them...)

i do have some 67g springs; not sure if they're compatible. (however i still prefer 45g springs for alphas and numbers; i use black for modifiers and space bar) i will use the box switches at stock for some time first before doing things to them.

.. and i will surely lube them all, eventually. i like silenced mkbs. lubing is part of the process to make a mkb more quiet (beside making switches smooth). for now, imo better switches for silencing effects are still cherry mx silent red/black (i'm comparing to the current gateron silent red/black), coupled with a proper layer of dampening material between pcb and aluminum case.

most probably. it was here for a while, but now not sure which distributor carry the brand.

finally found the operating life for kailh pcb sockets: it's rated as 100 times, meaning you can swap switches for 100 times. (source: http://kailh.manufacturer.globalsources.co...CB-sockets.htm)

hmm, I think 100 times is pretty alright? I mean people probably resolder their keyboards less than 10 times anyway...

it depends on what you do. i use this to test switches and different combos, so the limit can be reached easily. (after better formulas are found, i record them so that i can use them in my customs next time)

you don't solder switches on pcb with such sockets. just replace faulty sockets when they're bad. well it's just fyi, it's not a problem, because spare pcb sockets can be obtained easily.

Got my first ever MKB today. It's the Tecware Phantom TKL Outemu Brown switches.

Build is quite nice, with aluminium cover protecting whatever is under, feels premium? Overall feels very solid, like you can smack someone and the keyboard still lives.

Design wise, this is my most preferred design, second only to its full size counterpart. As minimal as possible.

Keycaps are doubleshot ABS. One nice thing they did was adding the keycap puller at the back of the keyboard so you have no excuse to lose it. Back of the keyboard is supported by 4 rubber pads at each corner, also include stand which has rubber pad on each stand.

No RGB, but there are choices of red or white backlit, mine is white. 10 types of lighting mode, although I find only the FIXED setting useful, the rest too distracting.

Modular switches, at this price point, I don't think there are many or any at all? (correct me if I'm wrong) Also, I'm not sure if I can actually switch to Cherry MX or other switches in the future.

Overall, highly satisfied for what I paid (RM110) sounds like insane value for money if you ask me.

Will upload pics if anyone requests.
